Introduction
A change of plans this week as YHC did a pivot from an original Q to Q the QSource Workout of the Week. The topic this week was on Shorties. Having a few shorties myself, Qing up this was a no brainer. Shorties are a major part of YHC’s WHY and it’s likely not a far reach to assume they are a major WHY for many of the rest of you. Great morning to get the juices flowing. Clear skies and a slight chill. LFG!
Warm-O-Rama
Warm Up was short and sweet. The PAX were asked to complete 20 burpees OYO! Upon completion hold squat until all finished. 20 is 20 it’s not 17, or 18… it’s 20. Had PAX hold squat while the movements that would be used in the beatdown were demonstrated. Note: A little AAR after the beatdown was that the warmup could’ve been longer. Point taken, but YHC thinks maybe we should come to a beatdown already warmed up. Never know when there’s a hot start! After a quick count of the PAX we moseyed over to the East side of the hill and then ascended the hill. At the crest of the hill the PAX would get there first view of the ring below them. This ring represented the second ring of the Concentrica, the Shorties.
The Thang
Starting at center cone which is the M (Most Important) Read the Key Point and then perform the movement and then move out to the Stations: There were a total of 6 stations each representing a letter in the word IMPACT and each exercise started with the same letter. I Inch Worms, M Merkin Jacks, P Prisoner Squats, A Alarm Clocks, C Catalina Wine Mixers, and T T-Merkins. After the last station the PAX ran to a light returning to Station I Inch Worms. The first round consisted of 5 repetitions at each station and then a short run to a light returning back to Station 1. Each successive round the repetition at each station increased by 5 and the run to a light got progressively further away from the center of the ring. For the first round we moved as a group completing all stations. Before starting movements at each station, the PAX will read a bullet point off of a typed up sheet with a key point related to the QSource topic- Shorties. This would continue until Mary.
Note: The first round was done as a group. Due to size of group we broke up into 4 smaller groups (avg 5 PAX) and started the 2nd round at a different station and stayed in the smaller groups for the duration of the THANG.
With about 7 minutes remaining, the PAX rallied up and moved to the flag area for Mary. Mary consisted of some J-LOs, Flutter kicks, and leg raise progressions
Circle of Trust
El Dinghy took care of reading the announcements. Thanks brother! PAX called out a few reminders or additional information regarding Family Fitness and Countryman Ruck. The MEN balled up for TAPs.
Naked Man Moleskin
YHC reiterated the definition of Shorties- The Sacrificial relationship between a man and his children
YHC posed the questions that were in the preblast again
*What can a father hold back from his children?
*How important is a father?
*Why must a father be strong for his children?
YHC passed on the Takeaways from this weeks QSource topic – Shorties
A man gives everything he has for his children
- Relationship can never be severed
- Responsibility for a man is eternal
- Legacy of good fruit or damaged fruit
The impact (good or bad) that a man has in his children cannot be over estimated
- Quality of your relationship with children has a direct impact on the quality of relationships they will have with others
- A template for relational success or failure
The HIMs Commitment provides his children freedom
- As the Arc of their lives grows further away from the center, The HIM is the solid rock, the centering anchor, the foundation that empowers his children to live virtuous lives
Even if you don’t have Shorties yourself, you never know when some young impressionable child is watching and learning from you. They watch, they listen, and they learn from each of us through our actions every minute of every single day. Think about your actions, your words, your tone of voice, your body language, and the things we do throughout the day. Think about how you interact with your M, how you treat others, where you invest your time.
Be intentional with your children. Don’t regret you wish you had done something different when the opportunity is still present to do something now. Tell them you love them, even more often then you currently do, give them hugs everyday, be present, be just and be warm.
Love them like there will be no tomorrow. Raise ‘em up right and they will do great things and positively IMPACT the world around them. Aye!
