Circle of Trust
Our life is built of many habits, both good and bad ones. They can be good ones like waking up and working out or they can be bad ones like smoking. I have been reading a book called “Atomic Habits” and it talks about how people will set a goal but not hit their goal because they are going about it wrong. It shouldn’t just be something like I want to lose 20 pounds. The base way to go about it is to get to the basic habits that can result in what your goal is. Going to workout every morning at 5:15 is a habit that will help result in your 20 pound weight loss. Another habit would be to eat oatmeal for breakfast every morning instead of a donut after the workout. Building those habits will help result in your weight loss goal better than just setting some random goal. Another example for me is my goal of wanting to be a personal trainer. I set the goal of obtaining the certification and then made it a habit to study during lunch every day. I became have become stagnant in my goal of having my own personal training business. I realized yesterday that I set a big goal instead of figuring out what habits that I need to do in order to make that goal happen. I have a business planning organizer that will help me determine my business strategy, plan, etc. but I have not worked through it and found myself stagnant in my working towards my own business. I am focusing again on forming a habit of working on my business planner paperwork during lunch. Making that a habit will lead towards my end result of having my own trainer business.
My challenge to you is to think of a goal in your life. Brainstorm today on what habits would lead to that goal if you did them regularly. IT doesn’t have to be anything huge. Here’s an example. I want to have a more uncluttered, less messy house. What habits will lead to that result? Put my shoes away after I take them off. Habit of rinsing my plate and putting directly into the dishwasher.
