Introduction
I had this q planned out pretty well minute by minute and then Millville put a challenge out on the preblast for the flag. It started messing with my plan. He challenged Bluegill to Coupon Presses in Cadence until failure. I was happy they both decided to use big boys but…. I started panicking when I began considering how many times I can bench 50 lbs compared to these two beasts, I decided that this might be the entire beatdown. My first reaction was to do this after so I could do my plan. Then I decided this was unfair to Bluegill and Millville so I moved their Challenge Flag Battle up into the Mary part of my plan. I then decided I, and I’m sure many others, wouldn’t be able to leave the AO if they are still going at it. I have a lot of words in bold that this backblast is not for. This was the moment where I realized I needed to overhaul the entire beatdown because this is not about me. I decided to completely get out of the way of what Millville and Bluegill wanted to do and I decided to give all 23 men a front row seat. If this challenge was going to take the entire beatdown because it was what two people wanted to do I decided to be fine with that. The Coupon Press was moved to WoR and all MEN did it. This was certainly for those two but it was also important for me to keep all men together and part of this.
Warm-O-Rama
Calf Stretches, Shoulder Stretches, Motivators from 5.
Arm Circuit – Men got their arms out and didn’t put them down until recovery.
Arm Circles, forward then back, Good Mornings/Good Nights, Moroccan Night Clubs, Seal Claps, Overhead Claps, and ended with Pretzel Shoulder Taps. Everything in the circuit was in cadence x10
Called Soft Hands into the WoR circle, Site Q, to video and call Cadence for the issued challenge. Explained that all Men are going to do the challenge but to be eligible to take the flag you have to have a big boy. With Bluegill, Millville, and Soft Hands in the center and 20 men circled around them, we put our blocks on our chests and did Coupon Presses on Soft Hand’s up until failure. Once you hit failure you held plank and observed the Challenge until it was complete. After some time, we moved to the track for thang 1 and 2.
The Thang
Thang 1 – Track Work
The way the beat down was designed was to run a lap on the track, work on the grass in the interior, and rinse and repeat. I wanted to do 4 laps with 4 work outs in the middle but ran out of time.
Track started with a 400 yard dash at 100% – Round 1
Moved to the Infield of track and thang 2…. (In a moment) Started Round 1 of Thang 2
Thang 1 Continued…. Round 2, Lap Two – Karaoke 100 yards, Bernie Sanders 100 yards, rinse and repeat for the 400.
Didn’t have time to get into the 3rd and 4th Lap
Lap 3 – Jog 400 (60-70%) Lap 4 – Sprint the last 400.
Thang 2 – Infield Work
A partner based back and forth workout with a halfway point. Used my shovel flag to divide the field.
Round 1
Partner 1 AMRAP thrusters until partner 2 got to the other end. Partner 2 Rifle carried to flag, half way, murder bunny’d the rest of the way to the end and then started thrusters. Partner 1 took off to do Partner 2s job. Upon both MEN meeting at the other end we did the same thing coming back…. Rinse and Repeat to get back
Ran Round 2, Track Work then moved on to Infield work below
Infield Round 2
Partner 1 stays by Coupons does Goblet squats Partner 2 Lunge walked to flag and then broad jumped the second half. Partner 2 started doing jump squats while Partner 1 takes off and does the lunge walk half and broad jump half. Both men are on the other side of the infield. Rinse and Repeat to get back.
Was going to move to the track to do a jog lap but decided to do Infield Round 3 to finish
Infield Round 3
Round is a down and back. Both Partners moved simultaneously. Partner 1 Farmer Carried both Coupons the full length of the infield and back. Partner 2 completed moving peter parkers 1/2 way down the infield, to the flag and back. Partners switched jobs.
This is when we moved back to the lot for Mary. For Mary We Did Captain Thors until 6. We got through 6.
Could have ran another lap would have been lap 3
Did not do but, Round 4 would have been
Partner 1 stays and does 1 leg side lunge squats with coupon Partner 2 leaves for their down lap. Partner 2 Burpee Broad Jumps to flag, half way, and then duck walks the rest of the way across. Upon arriving at the end of the Infield, start side lunges without coupon. Partner 1 goes across. Rinse and Repeat to get back.
Run last 400 at 100%
Circle of Trust
I began by mentioning how I was so worried about my plan and what I was trying to do that I lost sight of the initial role of the q and was thinking more about myself than who this plan is for. I told all men about how I had this elaborate plan and it started messing with me that Bluegill and Millville wanted to have a Flag Challenge and how my initial thoughts were selfish. I started considering how I might not have time for what they want to do in my plan. I realized pretty quickly that my plan doesn’t matter as much as what the role the Q is to guide, serve, suggest, and adapt. If we are trying to lead men and serve men and help each other than what every man wants needs to be included. I talked a little about how it is an honor to Q and serve and then said how being selfless and serving others is probably the noblest thing, and at times the hardest thing, you can do.
This morning was one day before Veterans Day and asked who has served in the armed forces, acknowledged, gave respect, and asked if they would like to speak on what service means to them. Bluegill spoke on his connections between serving our country and the gloom and how F3 is about getting and supporting the guy next to you and how you have someone’s 6 and back and they have yours. He said how in civilian life this is about as close as you’re going to get.
Happy Camper took us out with a Prayer.
