Introduction
Old man winter made his presence felt this morning as I did a quick scout of the old AO, Holy Hill, & had forgotten how just steep that hill was. The men arrived with mummble chatter of the cold as we watched Sparkler sweat out the Bears game shenanigans from Sunday. Then we quickly got things heated up for the annual Gobbler Challenge!

Has Thanksgiving lost it’s meaning? In a world that continues to become self-centered & more focused on material possessions I would say yes in some instance we have lost it. Black Friday has now become pre-black Friday on Wednesday, people more focused on the commercialization of the stressing to make the perfect event happen that they lose sight about the people around them or maybe not around them.
Historically, the holiday commemorates the unity of the Pilgrims and the Native Americans, who gathered together in 1621 for a feast symbolizing peace and goodwill between their cultures. The meeting of people from different backgrounds to have a conversation & a meal. Today many families dread getting together b/c of what might potentially get said or b/c certain individuals don’t like each other.
Here in F3 we are built to bring people together. To make people meet in the middle for a conversation. My challenge to you men is make Thanksgiving have meaning again in your homes & those people you interact with, a time to give thanks to those you appreciate & a time to give to those that may not be as fortunate. Put down the black Friday amazon cart & have an intentional conversation with someone, send a text to someone maybe you have not connected with in a while but most importantly don’t forget the meaning of Thanksgiving.
