Introduction
Woke up around 3:00 to the sounds of thunder and torrential rain. Was slightly concerned as my plan for the morning involved a very hill centric workout that would not mix well with lightning. I quickly developed an alternative plan that I could employ if we needed to scrub hills for the pavilion. Fortunately by the time I headed out to the AO the rain had stopped and conditions had improved substantially.

Circle of Trust
I shared something I had come across on LinkedIn recently and asked the PAX to think how it might apply to the data they come across, whether at work and/or in their family life.
During WWII, fighter planes would come back from battle with bullet holes. The Allies found the areas that were most commonly hit by enemy fire. They sought to strengthen the most commonly damaged parts of the planes to reduce the number that were shot down.
A mathematician pointed out that perhaps there was another way to look at the data. Perhaps the reason certain areas of the planers weren’t covered in bullet holes was that planes that were shot in those areas did not return. This insight led the armor being re-enforces on the parts of planes where there were no bullet holds.
The story behind the data is arguable more important than the data itself. Or more precisely, the reason behind why we are missing certain pieces of data may be more meaningful than the data we have.
Naked Man Moleskin
Just as we concluded our photo by the flag it began raining buckets again and we all quickly departed the AO. Even though I had a descent back up plan, I would have been disappointed to not “bless” my fellow PAX with my intended beatdown. Thankfully the weather cooperated and we got to experience the sweet, sweet sounds of PAX grunting up and downs the hills throughout The Grove.
