- Always do the Hard thing. I cannot express the pride I had for my son this past weekend. A few months ago he expressed interest in trying cheerleading. As a parent my mind immediately went into protect mode probing him if this is something you really want to do. There will probably not be many boys, it may be tough to make friendships, some people may judge you, etc. His response, I don’t care, it might be hard, but I want to do it. He worked his butt off the last few months & was more focused than I have seen him get on something. He competed in his first ever competition this past weekend. 8 teams, 150 cheerleaders, 1 boy, MY SON. He crushed his routine & the result of his hard work & being comfortable being uncomfortable his team won 1st After watching his brother compete/win in football his sister the same in dance the exhilaration he had from putting in the work & winning was amazing to watch. He was so proud. I am humbled by his courage every day to chart his own path regardless of what others think. He is an inspiration to me & is a reminder to all of us to choose the hard things in life regardless of what other people think. AYE!
