“Full Benefit”

Someone shared this quote during a workout last year and I’m not sure where to attribute it’s the origin, but it’s intended to be a mantra to help you stay committed when plans complicate and situations are less than favorable.

Example: Planned on going for a run in the morning but it’s raining and your trail has turned into mud? Full Benefit—you get to reap the reward of a more focused and intentional run as you pay attention to where you place your feet and focus on not slipping and busting your shit.

Example: Been working long hours on a project at work and then your stakeholder changes direction or you have to start from square one? Full Benefit—you get to reap the reward of folding in your recent experience and learnings into a new project and will likely be more successful and efficient.

Example: Worked all night and came home to a pile of dirty dishes? Full Benefit—you get to reap the reward of taking care of your family and modeling good behaviors for your children.

a few other things we can learn from this mindset as we apply it to the gloom:

1. **Discipline and Commitment:** Committing to working outside every morning regardless of the weather requires discipline and a strong sense of commitment. It means showing up and putting in the work consistently, even when conditions are less than ideal.

2. **Resilience and Mental Toughness:** Enduring challenging weather conditions builds resilience and mental toughness. Consistently working outside in all weather conditions develops resilience and the ability to push through discomfort.

3. **Adaptability:** Adapt to changing circumstances quickly and effectively. Those committed to working outside every morning must adapt their routines and mindset to cope with different weather conditions. Whether it’s adjusting the intensity of the workout or wearing appropriate gear, adaptability is key to staying on track.

4. **Focus on Long-Term Goals:** Train to prioritize long-term goals over short-term discomfort. Understand that consistent effort over time leads to progress and success.

5. **Mindset of Excellence:** Maximize the benefits of training by pushing to perform at our best, regardless of external conditions. This mindset of excellence drives us to seek the “full benefit” of our efforts, no matter the circumstances.
