Introduction

It was supposedly going to snow, but it held off and the morning was perfect for another F3 Plainfield QvQ matchup between Caboose and Blue Gill

Warm-O-Rama

Pee Wee Herman kicked the session off by warming up the men in attendance.  Those 5 minutes went by quick before Caboose kicked things off

The Thang

Caboose took the first Q of 20 minutes starting at 0520 and kicked things off with what can only be characterized as a crowd favorite ~ 7’s that included Contra-WW3’s and Merkins.  If the PAX finished then they were instructed to go back down the ladder.  There was much of groaning going on…About half way through the 20 minutes, Caboose changed things up a bit and switched to another set of 7’s, but this time it was Contra-Blockees and Merkins.  As if the first set of Contras wasn’t enough.

At 0540, Blue Gill took over the Q and had the Men circle up where he kicked off the first of 5 blocks.  Each block consisted of 4 minutes and had some details regarding how the blocks were done.  The first block had all the PAX alternate between a body weight movement and then a coupon movement.  The rep count was 10 reps (single count, IC, 10 yds, etc) regardless of movement.  The group was led by calling out PAX who would determine the movement.  After 4 minutes the PAX were split up into smaller groups (4,4,3) and another 4 minute block commenced except this time the movements were body weight only.  The smaller groups were led by the PAX in the group.  After this 4 minute block, another 4 minute block commenced…same group but now the movements were coupon only.  After that the next 4 minute block, and back to body weight movements only.  After that block, the PAX reconvened as a group and Blue Gill spent the last minute leading the men through burpees until; Recover, Recover

Circle of Trust

Pee Wee Herman read the announcements…alot going on this weekend and in the future.

The COT was split between Caboose/Blue Gill.

Caboose discussed a scene in the movie “Of Mice and Men” where Candy’s old dog is put down.  On eof the characters in the movie, Carlson insist the dog is too old, weak, and suffering, and he offers to shoot it to put it out of its misery.  Candy hesitates but ultimately gives in.  The other men sit in silence as Carlson takes the dog outside and shoots it.  Candy lies still, devastated.  Caboose relayed that this scene made him think of what is going on with his best friend Rob, who is battling cancer.  Caboose mentioned he’s had several PAX mention that what he is doing and has done for Rob is extraordinary, but Caboose mentioned that Rob is like Candy’s dog in the scene described above.  Not comparing Rob to a dog, but rather Rob is Caboose’s BFF except that he wouldn’t let someone else go take care of something that needed to be done like Candy did.  Caboose will care for Rob, drive an RV to Arizona and back for his buddy Rob, whatever is needed!

Blue Gill’s COT focused on the idea of King.  In the midst of reading the book “Fathered By God” by John Eldridge.  The book talks about the initiation of a boy into masculinity.  How a boy/men will go through stages (initiation) of being a cowboy, a warrior, a lover, a king, and a sage.  Highlighting the King stage, Blue Gill mentioned that we are all born to go through this idea of being a king.  A King serves for the sake of others.  Whether that be in your family, work, community, even F3.  Blue Gill compared the idea of a King and the Q.  Where when we Q, we don’t Q for ourselves, but rather we Q for the men in attendance.  If there’s an open Q spot, we should grab it…not for ourselves, but for the Men that will attend.  Being a King will have its share of challenges….failures…we will not be perfect, but we can learn and do better.  So when its your time to be king, serve others!

Naked Man Moleskin

Thanks to Pee Wee Herman for having our six.  Thanks to the men that came out not knowing what might be in store for them during this QvQ challenge.  Thanks to my brother Caboose for co-Qing and thanks for being such a great dude!  Let us all never forget we get to do this, we don’t have to.
