Introduction
I like running in parking lots at 5:15 in the morning under the lights of the lamp posts. I also like using those lamp posts as markers for me to do exercises and multiples of five. Then when we made it down to the last lamp post, we go back to the beginning and do it again.
Warm-O-Rama
Warm-o-Rama included some exercises to help us warm up even though it feels like a heat wave. We did:
-Imperial Walkers
-Tie Fighters
-Tappy taps
-Michael Phelps
-Calf stretch
The Thang
For the beatdown itself we primarily were running up and down the line, stopping at each light post in the parking lot and doing exercises in a multiple of five. The first light pole was for five reps, second light pole was for 10, then 15 and 20 all the way at the end.
Each exercise was different for each round. There were six rounds total, we completed five of them. However, before each round all PAX had to do 10 thrusters before they could begin moving down the lot.
The 6 rounds were:
-Chest Press
-OHP
-Coupon Squat
-Bonnie Blairs
-Burpees
-American Hammers (didn’t get to these, however we did them in Mary)
at about 550, we gathered up near the flags and we did a little bit of cocaine bears and lunch walks. We finished with Mary after that and did LBC, American hammers, and alphabet soup.
Circle of Trust
I talked about a video I saw on YouTube by Mark Rober. He is an engineer who builds really cool stuff for different people, as well as as his self.
He met with a family who had a boy named Cash, who is wheelchair bound. He disguised himself as a wheelchair inventor, and asked Cash what he would like in a wheelchair if he could have one made his way.
mark ended up building one that had a speaker system, microphone, nerf guns, a light up disco ball, and even built tracks on the wheel chair so Cash can go up and down steps. While Cash was messing around with the wheelchair the father was talking to Mark and he told Mael that Cash wants to be a basketball player when he grows up whether that’s a Paralympic Olympian or someone who is able-bodied. He also tells his son “your resilience is greater than your resistance” and that stuck with me.
we have all been through tough things in life, but we are all still here. That’s a testament to our strength and our ability to overcome adversity. And even though we may have to deal with much different things than Cash and his family at times I think it’s important to be like Cash is. he carries a positive attitude, smiles, has goals, and he’s working to achieve those slowly, but surely. At such a young age that’s incredibly impressive. We should all try and be like Cash a little bit more.
Naked Man Moleskin
Prayers for one of Depends friends who is battle cancer. Mental health for those around us as well. We have a gift to be able to get up and workout and early in the morning and we are grateful for that.
