Circle of Trust

For my COT I wanted to talk about being grateful and appreciative.  On Monday, for my COT I talked about making better use of my time during my 3-4 hour commute to work as they had made my team return to the office for a few months.  I had always said that I hated being in the office, I wanted to quit because they were making us go back into the office, but after a week I realized that it’s not that I hated being in the office but I hated the commute to the office.  Instead of pouting and being angry about the drive, I started taking advantage of my commute by listening to IT tutorials to sharpen my skills, in the afternoons I remembered about Homer Simpson’s COT on reaching out and calling friends and family that I hadn’t spoken to and may have lost connection with, shoot, I even called Homer on one of them days because I felt disconnected from him as we had not spoken in a while.

I remembered why I started working at the company I’m at, it’s a great company, I love the culture, I have a great manager, an awesome VP and I work with a great team.  I was reinvigorated with my job and my trade by going back into the office.  I reminded myself that working from home is not a requirement but a privilege.  I appreciate the position that I’m in and am grateful for what I have, I appreciate where I work and the fact that I have the flexibility of working from home.  And I thought, there are people that pray to be in the position that most of are currently in, with work, a home and a family to come home to.  So don’t take things for granted and appreciate everything you have.
