Introduction
The morning was clear and cold (29 deg) with a brisk wind. Clear skies. Beautiful morning.
I wanted to come back to The Wood, where my F3 journey began one year ago, for a MANniversary Q. The plan was to hit 6 different stations around the AO and complete 365 reps of multiple exercises, one rep for each day since my first post. When designing the plan, I was not sure if we would get back to the lot in time for Mary but it turns out we finished a few minutes early. I supplemented a few extra coupon exercises to take us to Mary.
After marking off the stations, Bernie and I went on a 1.5 mile EC run. We returned with plenty of time to welcome the PAX.

Station 1: Parking lot – 35 curls IC, 30 OH Presses IC. Indian run in two groups to base of hill.
Station 2: Bottom of hill – 30 air squats IC, 30 SSH IC. Bear crawl to top of hill.
Station 3: Top of hill – 30 big boys IC, 30 shoulder taps IC. Run down spine of hill to small parking lot near Seil Rd.
Station 4: Small lot – 30 Moroccan night clubs IC, 30 grady corns IC. Indian run in two groups to winter parking lot/playground.
Station 5: Playground – 30 dips IC, 30 derkins. Mosey to pavilion.
Station 6: Pavilion – 30 side steps-ups (15/leg), 30 Bulgarian split squats (15/leg)
Mosey back to parking lot and finished with skull crushers, coupon curls, and thrusters.
Mary: Lying on our 12 with coupons above head, we did 30 flutter kicks and 30 Freddie Mercury’s. Without coupons we did 30 LBC.
Circle of Trust
While talking with a friend (future PAX?) at church recently, we got into a conversation about F3 and more specifically, Reindeer Games. At some point I mentioned getting up at 3:30 to do EC run/ruck. He clearly thought I was crazy and asked why I got up so early. That made me think…why do I get up this early? I came up with a top 10 list and shared this morning.
Why I wake up before 4:00 am…
- to start my day earlier than 94% of all Americans (according to a 2021 health line survey)
- to enjoy a few moments of solitude and prayer
- to feel the early morning cold of winter on my face
- to get my fill of gnat and bug protein in the Spring
- to put to use all the equipment I’ve bought as part of this free mens workout group
- to become more energized throughout the day and sleep better at night
- to improve my physical, mental, and spiritual health
- to embrace the suck and do hard things before most people get out of bed
- to model positive and healthy behavior to my M and 2.0s
- to be with all of you MEN, and all the PAX of F3, who have helped me this past year become a better husband, a better father, a better friend, and a better man
