The Thang
Pearls on a string with tire sleds – PAX moved from station to station via partnered farmer carries + merkins while 3 PAX volunteered to drag the tire sleds to/from stations. Fresh PAX swapped in to drag the tire sleds after the completion of each station.
Station I – Left sleds on the street and mosied over to the hill. Coupon work at the base of the hill (curls, shoulder press, goblet squat). Ascended the hill with a Bernie Sanders run. Burpees and LBCs at the top of the hill. Mosied down the hill and back to the tire sleds to move to the next station. Continued farmer carries + merkins.
Station II – Stopped on the side of the street for coupon work (we’re not worthys, chest press, curls). Dragged the sleds and continued farmer carries + merkins to the next station.
Station III – Moved to small parking lot near the entrance of THE WOOD for two rounds of bear crawls and merkins. Dragged sleds and switched to coupon mosie to get to the next station.
Station IV – Coupon work (Curls, shoulder press, goblet squat). Left sleds by the hill and switched back to partnered farmers carry + merkins to get back for Mary.
Mary – Curls, shoulder press, goblet squat, merkin ring of fire.
Circle of Trust
Topic: Seek balance in all facets of manhood.
Quote: “Imagine life as a game in which you are juggling some five balls in the air. You name them – work, family, health, friends and spirit – and you’re keeping all of these in the air. You will soon understand that work is a rubber ball. If you drop it, it will bounce back. But the other four balls – family, health, friends and spirit – are made of glass. If you drop one of these, they will be irrevocably scuffed, marked, nicked, damaged or even shattered. They will never be the same. You must understand that and strive for balance in your life.” – Brian Dyson
Thoughts: As men we can tend to conflate work and family as we accelerate in our carriers. I personally have been struggling with being present and turning off my work brain so that I can tune into the moment with my family. While the pursuit of money/financial security is a righteous and necessary effort it is only one facet of what it means to provide for our families. Our families need MEN who are present, who listen, who demonstrate compassion and are tuned into the needs of their family. Accelerating in our careers is what our families need, but its not always what they are asking for.
