Introduction

YHC was overdue for leading a beatdown so no better way to start off a Saturday then to lead some MEN.

Warm-O-Rama

Started the PAX (Men of F3) with some SSH, Arm Circles, Windmills, Good Mornings, Deep Squat Holds, and Calf stretches.

The Thang

For this Dora (partner workout) I asked the PAX in attendance to pair up with someone that was at different fitness level then themselves.  Here’s the THANG.  The runs were done by both MEN.  The movement reps were the total to be done between the MEN.  Only one man was doing the movement.  While one man was doing the movement, the other man was doing SSH’s.  It was up to each Dora team to decide how they wanted to break the reps up

Circle of Trust

As always Meta was a professional reading the announcements.  We took a moment to be thankful, to watch over those that may be celebrating tomorrow to safely get to where they’re going and also a safe return.

My COT message was inspired by two PAX (Homer Simpson/Zimmer) this past Wednesday at the first official beatdown at F3 Plainfield’s newest AO, The Raven’s Nest.  During Homer Simpson’s COT he focused on the passing of his niece, Raven, and how her passing almost 2 years ago to the date changed not only his perspective, but also his families perspective on relationships. We have limited time on this earth so make the effort to spend time with those you love because we are not promised tomorrow. Prior to his COT, Homer Simpson asked the PAX in attendance to think of someone in their lives they could reach out to that maybe we didn’t talk to that much, but should.  During his COT he asked the PAX to name that person out loud.  When it came to YHC’s turn I called out my father.  I mentioned we don’t see each other but maybe twice a year and only talk to each other on the phone maybe once a week.  When I do speak my father (normally initiated by him) he makes the comment, I don’t call.  During coffeeteria, Zimmer pulled me to the side and asked if I ever heard of this guy name Jessie Itzler.  I had not.  Zimmer said Jessie was on a podcast and was talking about how often do you see your parents.  The take away was that if you only see them like twice a year and let’s say they’re in their mid 70’s.  Say they have like 5 more years left on earth..most people would think to themselves well I have like 5 more years with them…but in reality you have like 10 more times with your parents (you see them twice a year).  After Zimmer shared that, it really hit me especially since my dad will be 78 this year!  I may have less than 10 more times I see my father (tearing up as I write this).

My message to the PAX was to take this reality to heart.  Reach out, go see, do whatever with those people that matter most.  If you only see someone a few times a year, the time and opportunities you have with them are much more limited than you think.

BTW:  This Jessie Itzler is pretty interesting dude.  If you like Goggins, you’ll like this guy

Naked Man Moleskin

There may have been wolves or at least what sounded live wolves prior to the beatdown this morning.  Certainly didn’t sound like the normal coyotes.   Meta and Bambino heard them.

Thanks Meta for having our 6.  True HIM

Thanks to the 12 Men that came out in the gloom and pushed themselves as there was minimal rest with this beatdown

Awesome meeting Meta’s long lost friend who was named Bambino.  We’ve all been there Bambino…don’t get discouraged as this is the start of a new you…if you choose….we got you!!!

Awesome work by my Dora partner Cutler…This dude is hobbling on one leg, doing single leg burpees (I think Crabgrass termed them Grubbies last night at the evening boot camp?). Respect!

Finally, thanks to Homer Simpson and Zimmer for reminding me about how time is our enemy….Time to end this backblast so I can go call my dad
