Introduction

It was an above freezing day as I rolled into the AO to set up Mr. Drippy from his recent hibernation through the coldness of the past couple months.  The men rolled in with some good mummble chatter as we skated around the parking lot a little.  Then we quickly got to work

CoT:

  • Recently I have read the books, “Raising a Modern Day Knight”, “The Comfort Crisis”, & currently “Fathered by God”. These books are really speaking to me around 2 key topics:
    • We need to reconnect with nature & how our ancestors lived getting back to living more rugged & getting out of “comfort Creep” (as we experience more comfort, we don’t become satisfied we just lower our threshold for what we consider comfortable).
    • We are living in a “fatherless” society that has lost traditions like “initiation” from phases to phases of a boy’s life: boyhood, to cowboy, to warrior, to king, & to sage.
  • What does this mean? I don’t know for sure but a tugging at my heart that there is a need to get our young men back out to nature celebrating initiations through various stages of life, to be uncomfortable & to celebrate these stages of life.
  • In the words of a great man who celebrates his birthday today, Ric Flair, I say WHOOOOOO!!!!
