Introduction
On our Sunday coffee ruck Hank Hill might have implied that my Q’s were predictable and a little soft. So on response I went hard and unpredictable.
Warm-O-Rama
Run in place, Daisy pickers, high knees, Motivators from 7, grass pickers, arm circles and Michael Phelps.
Set the rule that at any time if anyone thought we were predictable or soft they could yell out a David Goggins quote and (determined by a roll of a die by Hank Hill) we would do 3 burpees.
This could have been any Goggins quote. Not just “Who will carry the boat”.
The Thang
Thang 1 – rifle carry to the snack pavilion. Squats onto our coupons to make sure we were doing proper form. Overhead press in cadence watching form to make sure have full lock out on top. Farmer carry to the ball fields. Dips and Mike Tyson push ups.
Thang 2 – a 12 station TABATA. Consisting of Deadlift (120 or 80lb sandbag), Curls w/coupon, jump rope, ball slam 20 or 30lb, Superman’s, Kettle bell Halos 20 or 30lb, Apollo Ono’s, Alternating hand kettle bell swings 20 or 30lb, Floor to sky sandbag 40 or 60lb, Mucho Lego, Overhead press reg or BB coupon, and then side shuffle back to station one. 50 seconds of Get Hard and 10 seconds of rest. We made it through twice. No Mary pushed through until 6.
Circle of Trust
To quote David Goggins “It’s a lot more than mind over matter. It takes relentless self-discipline to schedule suffering into your day, every day.”
Every day I fight that inner voice that says quit. All of us fight that inner voice that says “this hurts” “this is hard”. I can’t make you push beyond that but I can make myself push beyond that. Hopefully I can bring some of you along.
“Stay hard”
Naked Man Moleskin
This was a super complicated Q. Lot’s of parts and pieces to set up. My advice usually is to go simple but every now and then it’s good to go hard and unpredictable.
Was this in response to a probably innocent comment? Probably yes. Was it tough, miserable, and awesome all at the same time? Yes.
Stay Hard!
