For my COT I wanted to start with this quote “It’s not how we make mistakes, but how we correct them that defines us.”
We all make mistakes regularly. That’s part of life. The key is to own your mistakes and learn from them. It doesn’t matter if it’s in your personal life or at work. At home, it might be where you lost your cool and said some mean words to your M after you got mad with something she did or said. You can’t control what someone else will do or say or even you getting upset, but you can control your behaviors. If you did something or said something then own up to it and apologize and not a “I’m sorry for doing it but I did it because you did or said something.” Don’t put the blame on someone or something else. Own the responsibility for your action. “I’m sorry for saying that when I was angry. That was uncalled for.” Something like that doesn’t pass the blame. Same thing for something at work. If you mess up. Own it. Example – “I forgot to check the calculations from my team and assumed they were correct and I had to redo them which caused extra time not budgeted. Next time I will make sure to check the calculations from my teammate like the quality process says” Own the responsibility instead of trying to pass the blame pointing out that the other person messed up and not mentioning that you failed to double check the work like the quality policy in place dictates.
Think about a mistake that you made lately. Did you fully own your mistake? Or did you try deflecting some of the blame? I challenge you to keep this in mind and the next mistake you make, just own it and learn from it. Don’t try to pass the blame.
Aye?

Today’s Foundation Fact of the day
Eating an entire bag of cauliflower for lunch is not recommended. I guess it is a very fiber rich meal and may have side effects.
