Introduction
The AO was quiet and peaceful. The sun was just coming up and the air was crisp. Da Grizz was awake with the vast amount of wildlife. I set up the beatdown and went over my notes. Headlights started to pull in and flags were planted.
Warm-O-Rama
WOR consisted of arm circles , Michael Phelps , SSH , Calf stretches , Good Mornings , Abe Bagotas and Tappy Taps.
The Thang
The beat down was dedicated to Sgt Jack Hennessey who lost his life in Baghdad. It consisted of
6 rounds
24 air squats
24 Merkins
24 Walking lunge
400 Mete run
Once finished we went back to the flags and we had around 20 minutes left. I started a stretching routine and had our Veterans at the beat down tell the group why they joined the service.
Circle of Trust
This is a day to remember our fallen soldiers and to gather with family to enjoy this time of the year.
I read off 2 quotes that stuck in my head for years. The first from Arthur Ash that reads
True heroism is remarkably sober, very undramatic and its not the urge to surpass all others at whatever cost , but the urge to serve others at whatever cost.
The second quote was by Ronald Reagan and he said Freedom is never more that one generation away from extinction. We did not pass it to our children in the bloodstream. It must be fought for, protected and handed on for them to do he same. Or one day we will spend our sunset years telling our children and our children’s children what it was like to live in the United States where men were free at one time.
