Introduction

I love football Q’s. Everybody always seems to have a great time. So I had been looking forward to this one all week—the opportunity to just play.

Broomstick texted me last night, very concerned that it would be too dark to play—and he was in Indiana and wouldn’t be attending the workout! That is dedication! I listened to his advice and grabbed a glow-in-the-dark football, knowing it would be dark for the first 10 minutes or so. Set up the field—about 80 yards long and 30 yards wide. Got back to the flags with 2 minutes to spare. We were ready!

The Thang

Ultimate football. When a team scores a touchdown, the other team completes 10 merkins. If there is an interception, the throwing team completes 2 burpees.

Circle of Trust

Last week during a beatdown at the Colosseum, there were two moments when Flo just started laughing—and it was contagious. It reminded me of my favorite quote from my favorite author…Nietzsche wrote, “Nothing succeeds if prankishness has no part in it. Excess strength alone is proof of strength.”

Simply put, if you are not strong enough to make it fun, then you aren’t strong enough. I used to discuss this idea with students when I taught, and I always gave simple examples.

Many people can play the piano. You can put sheet music in front of them and they can play the song. But only some are strong enough to make it fun—they can play the song, improvise, make it their own and make it fun. Excess of strength.

Michael Jordan was undoubtedly one of the best basketball players of all time. But he was also considered the best trash-talker to play the game. He made it fun. Excess of strength.

Are you just strong enough to do things…do you simply check the box and complete tasks? Or do you have the excess of strength to involve prankishness?

We can all do the dishes after dinner, but are you able to do the dishes and make it fun?

We help our children with their homework, but are we able to help them and have fun while doing it?

We take our wives out on dates…but do we just check the box and have dinner, or are we able to make it fun?

We participate in F3 workouts, but are we able to openly have fun while doing them?

Think of the tasks you accomplish on a daily basis. And now think about ways to involve prankishness in each of them. Excess of strength alone is proof of strength…

Naked Man Moleskin

So many fun moments today! I didn’t notice many of them because Happy Camper was me pretty well draped in coverage all day long. The game came down to the last minutes…and the good guys came out on top. But everybody won…
