Introduction

Arrived at the AO as it started to rain. Storm Chaser and Sparkler had taken off on an EC run and left their toys on the sidewalk for me. I waited for PAX to arrive to help unload their cars with all of the toys we would be using during the beatdown. The rain picked up a bit just before we started the beatdown.

Warm-O-Rama

Typically Bunker special. Since this was a ruck club Jellystone as seasoned as he is once again forgot to dress his ruck sack so we all had to do 10 penalty burpees.

The Thang

Thang 1- I had set up a square that was 50 yards by 50 yards and we had to move all the toys from one cone to the next. We had an assortment of sandbags, coupons, kettlebells and tire sleds. Once we moved all the gear across the cone we did 20 squats and 20 hand release merkins. PAX then loaded up with more gear and traveled to the next cone. We rinsed and repeated around the square until we returned to the start.

Thang 2- We traveled the same path but we rifle carried our ruck sacks across to each cone. At the cone we did 15 flutter kicks in cadence followed by 15 big boys on my up. We traveled the the square once again.

Thang 3- We rucked for the final few minutes around the square. PAX had the option to add additional weight if they felt the need to do so.

Circle of Trust

For my COT I wanted to focus on children and the school environment in light of the event Texas yesterday. As an educator many teachers and staff right now cannot wait to get out of the building and get away from their students for the summer. Most of the students I work with need and want to be in school because school is their safe place. It is the one place where they get two meals a day, have adults that listen and work with them, and have an opportunity to be themselves. The end of the year is different for me, while I do enjoy my summer break I often worry about my students and if they are getting everything they need at home. Many of them look to the school setting to be their safe place and provide the needs they are not getting at home. After yet another school shooting in our country I am sickened that what is supposed to be a children’s safe place is once again a site of distress. Parents are supposed to have comfort in sending their children to school and we are supposed to protect them. As an educator our job is to serve and protect all the students in our building and would go to whatever means necessary to protect my students. Hug your kids each night and let them know how much you love them.

We said a prayer that Toby asked me to read at COT this morning.

Naked Man Moleskin

Thanks to the 13 PAX that showed up this morning to embrace the suck. The rain definitely added another layer to the suck that was already planned. We did an AAR and I appreciate the feedback from Den Mother about slowing down my count on some exercises during WoR. I also had a chance to pick the brain of some GoRuck veterans at coffeeteria after the beat down and they gave me some ideas for my next beatdown. As always I enjoy the opportunity to lead a beatdown and thanks to the men who showed up this morning.
