Introduction
As a diamond site q, I usually try to push the front and encourage the 12. As I was trying to encourage Dauber, to power up more on his bounds and be more explosive he took offense. Thought I was attacking his athleticism.
I picked the two people talking the most during WoR to count for me
Warm-O-Rama
WoR – left leg quad stretch w/ Pablo Picasso quote and disclaimer. Right leg Quad stretch with Sparkler Quote and Mission Statement. Arm Circles forward OYO for 5 core principles/circles backwards OYO for credo. Abe Vigodas Good Mornings x 10 IC with a little good night back stretch. Plank to calf stretch. Each leg for a ten count. (3 minutes)
Thang 1 (Personal Disclaimer, this was sort of part of WoR) Done in the lot – Age of Man (5 minutes)
Thought I knew what it was like to be a Man at 18 (No idea) 18 Single Count SSH
Thought better at 21 (Still no idea) 21 Single Count SSH
Maybe knew at 43 (Age of starting F3, the men around me have and still are teaching me)
Motivators (Just this set) from 43, ended with 43 hops. We continually lay the ground as leaders 43 feet ahead of the leaders driving on it.
The Thang
Thang 2 – Ground Pounding (I normally never repeat myself as I enjoy creating – I brought back something from a Black Diamond Dragon Q) In the grass past the pavilion
Circled up for Sets of Burpees to 10 and then alternated between 20 Air Squats and 20 Monkey Humpers
8 Rounds – (20 minutes)
Thang 3 Bounds and Pavilion work
Introduced a new movement called bounds/baby Marios and at the grass site checked for form and understanding. Ran back to the pavillion to introduce Picnic table sets and asked men to partner up. The Partner that would double back to the grass site functioned as the timer for the man doing pavillion work. The timer performed 10 Right leg bounds and ten left leg bounds and then ran back to relieve the man performing continuous oyo reps of Step Ups, Derkins, Irkins, and Dips. (10 minutes)
Thang 4
Ran to the hill At the base of the hill men worked OYO to perform 5 bounds out with one leg and 5 bounds back with the other leg once complete we ran up the hill to perform 5 Dilly Dilly Red Bull Smurf Jacks (5 minutes)
Sparkler left at 5 minutes till to catch a bus, the rest of us left 2 minutes till 6 for big boys until Octomom called 6:00. We got in 38. I was hoping to get 43 in.
Circle of Trust
This is a checklist of things I was expected to say so I’ll drop it here,
-Mission is “To plant, grow and serve small workout groups for men for the invigoration of male community leadership”
-In fulfillment of the mission, four years ago, the men of F3 Plainfield expanded out from F3 Naperville to more deeply serve their proximate community
-F3 Plainfield has furthered the mission by growing from an original 3 AO’s to 11 where 60-80 Pax post daily and 2nd F and 3rd F activities are plentiful
-And now is the time, again, for expansion to further the mission
-F3 Chaminwood will continue to give this gift away and focus on the communities of Channahon, Minooka and Shorewood
-Official Region Launch will be 8/01 and SLT1 will be announced at a Combined Convergence in Aug
-There is a new slack for F3 Chaminwood. All are encouraged to join. The link is in the announcement from Picasso on Friday
-All Pax will continue to be able to HC and post at any of the F3P or F3C AO’s
-There will be a channel F3P Slack to HC to post in F3C and likewise, there will be a channel in F3C Slack to HC to post in F3P
-PAX will need to determine where they want to track their stats and have that region (F3P or F3C) as their home region.
-If they post in the other, they will need to fill out the /Slackblast in the Downrange channel of their home region Slack. This is exactly the same as how it now works between F3P and F3N now.
-This is an exciting time. I love F3, I love F3 Plainfield and I love you men
This is what I actually said,
I used to think that when Dilly Dilly, “says F3 can change the world” it was idealistic. I have since bought into that statement and believe him. I want to work harder at something he envisions, perhaps as a former Nant’an and perhaps as a former expansion Q for the nation, to help create visibility of F3 and small mens work out groups in every town in our state and beyond.
We have a mission in F3. To Plant, Grow, and Serve Small workout groups for men, for the invigoration of male community leadership. We have AOs that are getting crowded with Men and we have communities that are not being served as we continue to expand geographically. We will be more on mission after our F3 Plainfield Convergence with two regions.
I am here to say goodbye in ways. Not because I don’t care but because I do. This is a goodbye without me going anywhere. I have always wanted for Shorewood, Channahon, and Minooka what you all have in Plainfield. As Crossroads emerged from Naperville they successfully accomplished this by realizing proximity was the key to success.
The expansion team wants to create more community impact and are attempting to brainstorm ways to do this. Through creating local micro pantries, cleaning up our own neighborhood schools and local parks, through adopting parts of route 6 to clean up, and by establishing more local opportunities to have Q Source and share leadership principles we will begin to add more visibility to a cause.
I believe 3Rivers and a lot of the culture that is happening at the Wood and the ocho is fun and addicting to be around and at the same time worry that without a clear sense of mission and purpose that our enjoyment will be relocated to a fad or a phase, a part of one’s life avoid from purpose. Fads and phases never last the test of time. We all know that F3 is for life. Purpose will drive our necessity to stick around and help us create legacy.
A friend helped me to realize that a certain sense of hypocrisy exists within saying one of the first things the expansion team wants to do is help Wilmington stand up. They are already doing it on their own so I suppose a better way of saying this is to give them standards that exist uniformly across all of F3. If I want what’s best for Shorewood and my surrounding towns, why should we focus on Wilmington who are already doing it on their own? I believe purpose and mission would accomplish this as well. This feels very similar to Pi starting to light a fire in the Shorewood area and Plainfield supporting it. It is odd to me how many similarities seem to exist and how things seem to be coming full circle. Wilmington is about as far south from me as the Wood is for this neighborhood and the RIdge. I do not have any intention of holding onto Wilmington. I do intend to help them kindle their own fire and like the passenger song let it go. Change is hard. To give up control is hard. When you give something away, you do at some point have to let it go. This is our mission.
So what is next? The Ridge is fairly similar to my neighborhood in that there are a lot of homes in a small proximity. Men, we are only beginning to get going. We are only starting. We need to make sure every man in every home knows who we are. It isn’t because we need them, it is because they need us. We are not done yet. In fact, Chaminwood is just beginning. We will both continue to invigorate our communities, give our gifts that we know as F3 away and expand and let go. Men, let’s give this gift away, Aye
Naked Man Moleskin
Was not hard enough for Blue Gill and Octomom. Blue Gill didn’t complain, (I will get him to one of these days for good reasons) and Octomom ran a 5k when we were done.
Wanted to try out a new movement called bounding. There are several ways to do bounds. It is an exercise for sprinters to increase foot speed and explosive power. I did this because it is something that I want to teach several kids, (2.0s of my brothers that play soccer), to get quicker. Sure would be better to do it ourselves than paying money for speed and agility camp.
