Introduction

After a long night of storms I woke up early so decided to head over early & set up my looong run of cones in the open field walking it out & enjoying the quiet of the gloom. Saw Pull Up, pull in, but was not fast enough to catch him before he headed out on his 4:40 AM EC so I patiently waited for the 4:55 group & the mummble chatter was strong.

High’s & Low’s.  Many of you have heard me talk about my 10 year old twin boys. The thing I love the most about them is their individual personalities & their passions for what they enjoy.  My one son has chosen the path of what many would define as “what boys do”.  He loves sports, playing with his bros, & just doing overall dude things.  My other son has chosen the path less traveled.  He prefers more of the “theatrics” like dance, acting, singing, & is even going to try a cheerleading class.  We would call that in F3 doing the hard thing & being comfortable being uncomfortable.  His bravery makes me proud & pushes me as a father to think differently.

That path has not been easy for him.  He has been bullied, picked on, & teased by others.  Others that I would say are afraid of what they don’t think is normal.  There have been nights of tears & questions of “why am I different” & “why are people mean to me”. But he has been brave, he has stuck up for himself to those that have been mean to him & he has persevered to continue to try new things that he loves & I am proud of him for it.  Going back to school was tough with a lot of nerves of “what will it be like this year” & at the same time was not enjoying his current tumbling class but he persevered & recently wrote this letter about his experiences.

Hi my name is Dane Tohill and this is my speech.

If there are no lows there will be no highs and if you never met a stranger you wouldn’t have any friends.

What that means to me is you might just want to be on the highs but you cannot have highs if you don’t have lows to look back & improve.

So what I’m trying to say is look back to improve & do better the next time but never give up.
