For my COT I read excerpt from the book The Purpose Driven Life by Rick Warren
Change Your Auto Pilot
To change your life. You must change the way you think. Behind everything you do is a thought. Every behavior is motivated by a belief and every action is prompted by an attitude. Be careful how you think because your life is shaped by your thoughts. Imagine riding in a speed boat on a lake with the auto pilot set to head east. Let’s say you want to reverse and head west. Two possible ways to change boat direction. One way is to grab steering wheel and physically force it in the opposite direction that the auto pilot is set to go. By sheer willpower you could overcome the autopilot but would feel constant resistance. Your arms would tire to stress, you’d let go of the steering wheel and the boat would instantly head back east the way it was internally programmed. This is what happens to you when you try to change your life with will power. You say I’ll force myself to eat less, to exercise more, to quit being disorganized and late. Yes willpower can produce short term change. But it also creates constant and internal stress because you haven’t dealt with the root cause. The change doesn’t feel natural so eventually you give up, you go off your diet, and you quit exercising. You quickly revert to your old patterns.
There’s a better and easier way. Change….your auto pilot. Change the way you think. Change always starts first in your mind, the way you think. The way you think determines the way you feel. The way you feel influences the way you act. Change Your Auto Pilot! Change Your Mind!
Naked Man Moleskin
It was steamy this morning!!!! I was very motivated by the PAX in attendance who were putting in the hard work! It’s not supposed to be easy….great seeing Tweety doing some EC work before the beatdown, Dilbert stretching before the beatdown, and the Worm doing a little pre workout cardio.
Appreciate Elway embracing the DMZ concept and telling Doogie about the AO. Look forward to seeing more PAX from the region on the other side of the fence.
Thanks Trickle for having our 6 and Cutler for the much need waterteria.
Food for thought–
If you knew you couldn’t workout tomorrow, how hard would you workout today?
