Introduction
Held a Black Diamond Run club at a special non-AO location, Lake Renwick Reserve. We started at the township building (where the Plainfield Interfaith Food Pantry is).
Warm-O-Rama
We did EC stretching at 0450 and a hot start at 0500.
The Thang
The route had two out & back legs. Out & Back “A” was 2.17 miles total to the south of the flags. Out & Back “B” was 2.88 miles total to the west of the flags. This route design had us passing the flags several times, allowing PAX to push to whatever distance they could, all ending at 0600 at the flags. The goal was to run “A” then “B” then “A” again for an approximate total of 7.2 miles. Many PAX achieved this but all PAX pushed themselves and put in great work this morning!
Circle of Trust
- We talked about our environment – our friends, colleagues, location, habits and lifestyle make up our environment.
- Our environment impacts us far more than we realize. The focus of this COT was not on who we surround ourselves with but what we surround ourselves with, because this can propel us forward, or it can hold us back.
- No single place is inherently good or bad, but different places make us feel differently – pay attention to how you feel in the places that you spend the most time. Are you motivated or drained? Are you in a positive mindset or a negative one? Are you productive or distracted?
- Putting yourself in a new environment (like we did today) can increase attentiveness, focus, avoid distraction, and increase your energy level. Did you find yourself thinking about different things that you would have if running a route for the 15TH time?
- Think about how you can apply this to other areas of your life. Do you need to change the way your office is arranged? Change the way you get to work? Rearrange some furniture?
- Don’t let your environment get stale – it can reduce motivation and acceleration.
Special prayers for Flo’s sister who is battling cancer. May God grace her with his healing hand.
Naked Man Moleskin
I’ve been looking forward to this for a month, even though there was an unexpected change in location this week. The original plan was to hold this at Hammel Woods in Shorewood, but there is a gate that prevents access at 0500. So we had to pivot to Lake Renwick and it turned out great. The paths in this park are in immaculate shape. The weather was perfect and there’s nothing quite like a sunrise run.
TClaps to Sparkler for NO EXCUSES and showing up, as Site Q, after a 2 am arrival at home thanks to a 4-hour flight delay. Brutal!
TClaps to Flo for getting out of his comfort zone and hitting up this Black Diamond! Great run brother!
