Introduction
It was a sucky & gloomy drive to The Wood with rain pelting down & the wind blowing hard. Two pulled HC’s & a couple of no shows to start the morning but 3 brave other men decided to embrace the suck & join me for some interval running which started with puddles & wet shoes & ended with gail force winds trying to knock you down on the straightaway back.

CoT
- Achievement = doing something that benefits only the individual. A goal that has been achieved.
- Accomplishment = doing something (or being part of doing something) that benefits others and the world outside of that person. A project that has been completed.
- Achievement is the completion of the task imposed from outside — the reward often brings happiness. Accomplishment is the end point of an engulfing activity we’ve chosen, a sense of joy that rises uniquely from absorption in a thing outside ourselves.”
- Winning a race, or getting good grades, or getting to the top of a mountain, are achievements but NOT accomplishments (in most cases). This is because those things benefit only the person who did them. I suggest we reserve the term “accomplishments” for things people do that benefit others and the real world.
- My challenge to you men is change your mind set from a life of setting goals to achieve something, like “completing 75 hard” & turn your life into setting goals focused more on accomplishments like “creating daily routines/disciplines that create healthy habits in my life”.
