Introduction

Well this Q was going to be a little different than most, since Second Best and I led 21 total PAX from The Ridge to The Wood.  We started at midnight and rucked 15 miles through the night to get here.  Conditions were less than ideal.  Most of us knew what we were in for, but none of us expected the icy conditions which made the paths, sidewalks and streets a challenge at times.  This initially slowed our pace and concerned me to the point that at best, we wouldn’t make it to TW in time, or at worst we needed to call the ruck all together.  Thankfully the conditions did get marginally better and the icy conditions did not persist.  Allowing us all to make it in time for The Gauntlet.

The Gauntlet

This is a team event.  We broke into 3-teams.  Each team was challenged to push the pace to “catch” the time in front of them, while staying together and picking up their own SIX.

Team 1 started by completing 1 parking lot lap, roughly 0.2 miles.  They were tasked with moving at a pace to “catch” Team 3 in The Gauntlet.

Team 2 did 2-Laps, and were tasked with catching Team 1.

Team 3 started in The Gauntlet, where the following PT was to be completed by ALL PAX before they could leave it.

Station 1 – (2) Coupon Farmers Carry – 20 yards and back

Station 2 – 40lbs Sandbag toss – 20 yards and back

Station 3 – 60lbs Sandbag Clean / Press, and flip over head x8 reps

Station 4 – 80lbs Sandbag Carry – 20 yards and back

Station 5 – 120lbs Sandbag Dead lift x8 Reps

After leaving The Gauntlet, teams would complete 2 laps before entering again.

Circle of Trust

I for one find motivation in doing things and accomplishing tasks that “others” say that I can’t, shouldn’t do, or are stupid for trying.  It is from here that I sometimes find the strength and determination needed to get up for a sub-zero F3 beatdown, run 4+Miles in the gloom, or ruck 15 miles in the middle of the night.  I tasked the group to find power in their accomplishments and to keep the limits of others from becoming their own.

I really wasn’t sure if I was going to be able to ruck from The Ridge and be back in time to Q my beatdown at The Wood.  As such, I lined up Schlitz, Den Mother, and Grub-X to help with setup and to jump in and Q if needed.  These MEN jumped in at the opportunity to help and had my SIX before we ever showed up and for that I thank you.

Finally, I’d like to thank all of the PAX who Rucked all night just to show up to The Gauntlet.  This beatdown is not easy, even when you’re fresh.  To do it, after a miserable night rucking puts you all in a category of your own.  Nicely done.
