Introduction

For a good time, call 1-800-scavenget-hunt.

Warm-O-Rama

We warmed up with a Jog around the parking lot where I pointed out the stations around the AO.

We then did each of the workouts at each station so that PAX were aware of how to do them.

Exercises were; CCDs – aka Carolina Dry Docks, SSH, perfect merkin, Jungle Boi, Imperial Squat Walkers, Rocky Balboa, step ups (1=1)

The Thang

We did a scavenger hunt-themed beatdown.

Groups were formed and assigned a letter, which served as the key for station assignments. The idea was to visit each of the seven stations in numerical order. Get to a station out of order? Take note of the number for that station  and head back to your base, which was the highest number base you successfully climbed to in order.

Each station had a fun command and an exercise…

Exercises were; CCDs – aka Carolina Dry Docks, SSH, perfect merkin, Jungle Boi, Imperial Squat Walkers, Rocky Balboa, step ups (1=1)

Fun commands were; Say “depends”
Solve for x: x+1 = 9*9 – 11 (shout your answer)
unscramble the word: PNEIS (Shout your answer)
Fill in the blank: The cow says _____. (Shout your answer)
Build a human pyramid (2 on the bottom, 1 on top)
Dance a jig for 20 seconds
shout your mom’s birthday
take a turn on the slide.

Mary consisted of; Shakiras and Oh Yeah’s.

Circle of Trust

COT was a retelling of @Homer Simpson’s story about his sweet niece Raven whom he was honoring at Raven’s Nest this morning.

Homer Simpson’s niece passed away 2 years ago from complications due to RSV (Respiratory Syncytial Virus). She was born with Down syndrome, and before she even turned 3 yrs old, she was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia. She went through many rounds of chemotherapy and transfusions, was in and out of the hospital for weeks at a time with otherwise “ordinary” infections and illnesses, and constantly being pulled away from her family and friends. But even with all those physical and emotional challenges, she always maintained a fun and vibrant personality to literally EVERYONE she met.

Receiving that phone call from my brother, and hearing his pain, was one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to do. The sound of his heartbreak will haunt me forever. But in tragedy, there are often lessons to be learned, and positives to be drawn. Losing her at such a young age, has taught me to be more present, more proactive, and more compassionate. I am still learning to apply these lessons effectively. Losing her so suddenly also brought together family members who had been alienated from each other for years…now speaking to one another nearly every day.

So now, I want her to teach more people about life and death. I want my F3 brothers to know about her. She loved spaghetti. She loved flowers. She loved coloring books and cartoons. Her favorite color was pink. Her favorite song was “We Are the Champions” by Queen. She was an angel. She was 12 years old. Her name was Raven.

It was fun.  I’ll surely rinse and repeat.  Maybe change up the exercises and commands.  But it was fun.
