Prayers – Gianna the 12 year old girl that lost her life on Thursday

Naked Man Moleskin

  • Wednesday night a young girl was in an accident at the conclusion of a youth group event from our Church. Less than 24 hours later she was dead.  My daughter was in the same small group with this young 12 year old girl & I had to inform my daughter of the news via FaceTime on Friday morning of her passing.  My daughter was an emotional wreck like I have not seen her before.  She tried to be brave & go to school only to be gripped with emotion & had to come home early (thank god Bunker was their to watch over her)  I attempted to be the emotional rock for her & talking through about God & Jesus & their plan for every individual.
  • As I processed this moment with my daughter 2 things became very evident to me. This experience had brought an extreme hardship in life up close & personal to my daughter & for the first time she was emotionally mature enough to understand the situation.  It was a realization for me that my little girl was no longer a little girl anymore.  My job is to not be a “snowplow” parent & shield her from these moments but be a leader & coach her through these situations she will encounter in her life.
  • The night this happened my daughter said to me, “Gianni was new to our group, I did not know her that well, but I had plans to get to know her better”. A realization that time does not wait on our plans.  Sometimes we overthink things due to fear & a plan just simply remains a plan.
  • My call to action to you men is those with young kids, don’t shield your kids from “hard” things in life just be there for them to teach them & secondly stop just making plans, stop over thinking things & take a leap of faith & execute your plan b/c you may not be able to do it tomorrow.
