Circle of Trust

I shared the story of a former co-worker, Kyle Zibrowski

  • 15 or so years battling alcohol addiction, he finally entered rehab
  • 2 weeks in he found out his wife was pregnant
  • After he got out, they found out there were complications with the baby (heart and lung)
  • Lucy Pieper Zibrowski was born on December 20th 2023, and died on December 27th, 2023, in her hospital bed between her mom, and her dad Kyle
  • Almost no one can relate to what Kyle has gone through, but he wants others to learn from Lucy.
  • I want to share what Kyle took away from this experience.  He calls these lessons Lucy’s Legacy:
    • Lucy’s time on earth was a blessing, a gift, and something not to take for granted
    • In 7 days, Lucy left a legacy through the lessons she taught others:
      • A belief in something greater makes suffering bearable. Everything is part of a plan, and it is perfectly ok to not understand that plan. I do not want a God that I can understand.
      • Science still has so many unknowns. There are bounds to human knowledge and it takes true wisdon to understand and accept those bounds.
      • Be satisfied with every goodbye. Any goodbye could be your last.
      • Respect how others deal with emotions. Everyone is different.
      • Never lose your sense of humor.
      • Purpose is measured in the impact you make on those around you, not in the amount of time you spent on earth

I think it’s amazing that someone who went through so much devastation and loss can maintain such a healthy and positive outlook on life, and share it with others – even someone like me, who he hadn’t spoken to in about 5 years, so that I could share it with all of you. This is Lucy’s Legacy.

Naked Man Moleskin

Thanks to everyone for coming out this morning, for pushing hard, and for listening to my COT. Kyle’s story is not a sad story – it’s a story of positivity, spiritual foundation, and family.
