Introduction

The preblast advertised a run club filled with Indian runs, sprints and hills. I wanted PAX to show up ready to push each other. All paces and abilities are welcome—as long as each PAX is determined to push. I believe if people are left to go at “their own pace” then most people will not push past their limits.

CoT:

Workouts end with a CoT, right? Then why do we do an AAR before the CoT?

Over the past couple weeks I have experienced some amazing things in the morning that provided a spark for my day—and sometimes that spark lasted for many days. These sparks have come at different times:

I’ve had it happen before the workout started (on an EC run or chatting/laughing with people before 5:15)…

I’ve had it happen during a workout (getting pushed by a fellow PAX can provide a cool lift)…

I’ve had it happen at coffeteeria (a random meaningful conversation with Vern and Foreclosure a couple weeks ago at DD was particularly energizing)…

But most of the time, my spark comes from a good CoT.

Our goal is leadership development. At length we have talked about how Qing creates leaders. We teach people how to lead workouts. We have Q school to help people cultivate those skills. The focus always seems to be on the workout itself. But we don’t talk about the CoT as a leadership opportunity—and it might be the most useful leadership skill in everyday life: speaking so other men hear you.

We should give feedback on CoT’s.

We should help people improve those skills. Maybe the delivery could have been better…maybe they should have written it down…maybe the intensity was lacking…

I’ve chosen to attend workouts based upon how good I think the Q will lead the workout. I have also absolutely chosen to attend workouts based on how good I think the Q will deliver a CoT. Because a powerful CoT can have a stronger impact that a workout design.

So let’s focus on creating better leaders through CoT’s.

Maybe we can start something here.

Naked Man Moleskin

Instead of keeping a supply of coupons in the bushes, maybe we should keep a supply of reading glasses for Quatro to use during announcements?!?
