Introduction

Preblast – Church on Saturday at Da Griz….   Service for Mind and Body will start at 6:30 and conclude at 7:30.

It will be a hard 1st F but as implied, the theme and CoT will be about the 3rd F.

Coupons, Gloves, and shoes for all surfaces! (Shortest Pre blast I ever wrote)

I played music for every Thang that we did.  I introduced each thang with Overhead Claps and talked a little about Faith before each Thang.

Warm-O-Rama

5:15 – Started, “Take Me to Church” on my phone promptly at 5:15

Overhead Claps – Amrap’d.  Initially talked about holding your hands in the air to feel music, talked a little about vibrations and frequency but also mentioned the shape of the v and compared it to a womb and chalice.  Said everytime I begin talking about an exercise or my understanding of faith we will also complete overhead claps until you hear recover.

Welcomed Men, Disclaimer, 5 principles, and mission to conclude Overhead Claps.

Said you need to be motivated to have faith and develop any kind of spirituality.  Did Motivators from 5.

Circles Forward, Circles Back

Tappy Taps

Michael Phelps

Recited Credo and then we moved.  Coupon Mosey behind band shell by Coffee Pavilion.  As we were moving I kept saying Faith is hard to grow and hard to know.  (For reasons).

The Thang

Thang 1 Location (Coffee Pavilion) – I had one speaker waiting with a CD in it.

Introduced Intro Thang – 2 Partners, One Partner Amrap’s OHP the other Riffle Carries to the other side of the Pavilion.  I had markers a little longer than the length of the pavilion.  Jobs are switched.  Partners go back and forth.  You are always doing something but never the same thing.  Once RIffle Carry Parther gets to the other side they start OHPressing to signal to the other partner, to riffle carry across.  The men were instructed to do this for the intro to a song (about a 2:30 acoustic Intro). Once the rhythmn set in, we began the first set of 11s.

11s – Started with 10 Blockees and 1 Merkin. Did this for about 7 more minutes.  The first song was called Valley by the John Butler Trio.  – about the highs and lows of mountains/life but specifically how hard it is to get into a pocket… a valley.  “Hard to Grow” and “Hard to Know” are sang over and over again in the chorus.

Coupon Mosey to the stairs right by the band shell.  Demo’d Goblet Squat for form, left coupons off the path, and we all ran down the stairs to get into that little “valley” there.  at the bottom we began Ovehead Claps.  I had my Bluetooth speaker at the bottom of the stairs.  While Men Clapped I introduced the next set of 11s.

2, I demo’d one Mary Katherine Gallagher into a jump Squat and then said those three movements counted as 1.  I then Sang. “Declare the mystery of faith” and connected the clap hands again to a chalice, a holy grail, and the communion cup.  I grew up protestant but have always found it peculiar as a young man attending a mass when the father would sign that out.  Talked a little bit about the empty vessel just waiting to be filled. The weird part was hearing the Father say it and state what he studies is still a mystery.  I wanted to be filled by the expert and it never happened played a song that is super mysterious.  Buck Rodger’s 2001 a Space Odyssey.  “2001 Jam – Phish”. Performed 10 rounds of 1 Mary K. G. and 1 jump Squat, ran up the stairs for our coupons and performed 1 Goblet squat.  Continued for the duration of the song.  About 10 minutes.

3.)  Had cones set up in the valley.  Did the Thang under those stairs.  OHC.  talked some about mystery talked some about faith.  Set up the next song a little bit.  “Faith” by John Butler Trio.  Talked about making the most of what you have even when you have nothing.  I was traveling recently and wanted to add a little more physical activity to just running.  I was in Hawaii and also knew I didn’t want to go inside anywhere so I wasn’t going to do it at a gym.  We did what I did in Hawaii because it was hard.  As Faith played and Men knew what the B.M.B. Set was we recovered from OHClaps and got into 20 Burpees, 20 Merkins, 20 Big Boys/oyo.  Everyone got through 1 which is what I wanted.  Some completed 2.  So far the morning was chest, legs, chest w/ some core, So core and legs were going to end things.

Overhead Claps – to introduce next idea and movement.  Next Idea was love.  Nothing grows without love.  You can’t have Faith without love.  “In Every Heart” by the Tedeschi Trucks Band was up next.  I played the alternate version of this because it is extra special.  It is Susan Tedeschi the main signer of the band and her husband Derek Trucks going back and forth with their tracks in this call and response Model.  The best thing about it is Derek sings back with his guitar simply because he can and prefers not to use his voice to sing.  Their chemistry on stage is always so present it seems tangible and there if you see them live.

4.) 11s in between the cones in the valley.  10 Coupon Swings.  (Was very happy to do this for Ozark as he was working with a kettle bell anyways.) and 1 Flying Squirrel.  Regular 11s with a twist.  When Derek sang the verse and chorus back to Susan with his guitar (Guitar Solo) we all switched to standing or kneeling, “We’re Not Worthies” and continued 11’s.  As the song wrapped I mentioned that my Son and I are on our own tonight as my wife and daughter are going to see a concert.  Played who they saw, she was the only Christian Musician I played.  Finished 11s – of Swings and Squirrels while listening to Lauren Daigle’s, “Rolling Stones.”

Going out of the valley, we circled up and did 20 air squats and 10 monkey humpers – IC.   Had to kill legs again before hitting the stairs.  Coupon Moseyed back to the flags.  OHClaps for last song.  Tedeschi Trucks Band – “Soul Sweet Song”.  Sings about rolling away a stone as well but…. Is a song about the soul.  With having their full band 12 members jamming it seemed appropriate to wrap everything up.  Circled up for 20 air squats, 10 Monkey Humpers IC, and another set of BMB’s.  Song ended right at 7:30!

Circle of Trust

Talked in more detail about the four themes – The Cup and Chalice – The Praise Hands and feeling music.  Vibration and Frequency and how every tangible object has vibrations and frequencies and proposed a notion that lots of ancient cultures, and some modern ones as well, believe – perhaps the world was spoken into and created with sound.  (Genesis – also a great band).  How mystery creates interest.  Nothing Grows without Love, and ended by talking about life and death some.

Naked Man Moleskin

Felt like church, felt like a hard boot camp, it was really fun to design.  I love teaching symbology and love artworks that are clever enough to make allusions or metaphors.  This was my attempt at combining all of this into a bootcamp.  It was close to how I wanted it to go.  It will be closer next time I Q up a Church Q.

I wish the Church Lady and Mary Katherine Gallagher (SNL) were the same actor/ess!
