Introduction
Arrived on site early to give myself time for set-up. Felt good to be back after being out in Denver all week and I was excited to give the PAX what I anticipated to be a solid burner.
Warm-O-Rama
PAX ran in place while I covered the core principles, disclaimer, etc.

The Thang
Divided the PAX into two teams. Each team takes shots from 3-point range at their own basket until 3 shots are made, then they have to work together to complete the exercise in each bracket. After they complete the exercises in that bracket, they go back to the court to take shots – repeat until complete.
Bracket 1: 100 Burpees
Bracket 2: 200 Big boys
Bracket 3: 300 Curls
Bracket 4: 1 lap for the entire team
Bracket 5: 100 Blockees
Bracket 6: 200 Overhead press
Bracket 7: 300 LBCs
Bracket 8: 1 lap for the entire team
Bracket 9: 100 Thrusters
Bracket 10: 200 Chest press
Bracket 11: 300 Skull crushers
Bracket 12: 1 lap for the entire team
For the second iteration, I upped the buy-in to 5 shots and added in a “shot focus” incentive where any missed shots resulted in a PAX from the team completing a burpee. We actually saw team 2 get better and nearly caught up to team 1 because of the incentive.
Circle of Trust
Although it’s a longer read than I’d like to share during a CoT (not to mention most PAX were heading to TR, DG, or TW for BC), I summarized the story “The Firewood Salesman”, which described Ulysses S. Grant’s rise to his position as the Commaning General of the Union Army during the Civil War and his eventual term as U.S. President. The main takeaway of the story being our ability to practice Humble Confidence.
I welcome you to read the whole story here, but I’ve incuded a brief excerpt below:
The Bible says, “For whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted.”
Marcus Aurelius, the famous Roman emperor and Stoic philosopher, said this about humility:
“Be humble, not only when you have to, but always. Choose humility in your clothing, in your way of speaking, in your way of walking.”
Regardless of your belief system, I think we can agree on this principle:
Life will humble all of us.
We can humble ourselves, or we can be humbled.
So, how do we develop humility?
Naked Man Moleskin
If something is weighing on your heart and you feel compelled to share, don’t listen to the voice in your head that tells you that you shouldn’t because nobody cares – that BS, you NEVER know when you might just reach that one man who needed to hear it!
