Circle of Trust
I want to start with this quote, “What goes around comes around. Karma is real. If you put out positive vibes then you will receive them in return.”
When others say or do hurtful things, I know that it is really easy to bristle up and want to respond or defend ourselves when someone hurts us. Another quote also comes to mind, “Revenge is like drinking poison to try and kill your enemies.”
This really has a new meaning for me over the past decade of the evolution of who I am over since the beginning of the first divorce in 2015. I would let myself be goaded into fights, arguments and would find the need to respond and retaliate. I have finally realized over the past two years that getting that last word or zinger back at the person just makes me feel shitty. My mindset now is don’t worry about what you can’t control and I try to take the high road with my ex wife and others that try to hurt me. It may not change the outcome of whatever that person such as my ex wife is doing to hurt me but I control the one thing that I can control in any situation which is how I respond. When I take the high road and don’t come down to the negative persons level, then I don’t have that guilty, shitty, kinda feeling. And you know what, a lot of the time not letting them get you upset will do more as a defense then a mean word back at them.
My challenge to you the next time someone says something mean in an argument or fight is to stop and not slink down to the negative persons level. Take the high road, the view is so much better up there.
