The Thang

Thang 1 Counting by 2’s

7 cones about 30 feet apart.  Start with 2 curls, 2 dips and 2 leg raises then rifle carry to the next cone.  Add two to each exercise so 4, 4,4 and then rifle carry to the next cone and add 2 so 6,6,6 then 8,8,8  and turn around and keep going when you get to the end keep adding 2.

 

Thang 2 – DORA

Two cones about 125 feet apart in parking lot

One partner stays doing the exercises and other farmer carries to the other cone and does 3 burpees and farmer carries back.  Do one round on each exercise and then rinse and repeat from the beginning again.

Exercises – hand release merkins, gobblet squats, bent over rows, LBCs, Overhead press, curls, skull crushers and hold high plank

Circle of Trust

I want to start with this quote, “Control your own destiny, or someone else will.”

For years, I struggled with depression.  I wasn’t happy.  I didn’t know exactly it was.  I lived the victim mentality telling myself things like “I’ll never be able to afford things like that” or “Why do bad things always happen to me?” and other similar things.  You know what I finally realized.  It was all a bunch of bullshit and was not in control of my life and was just letting others decide my life path.  Exwive telling me what I liked or would do or not do.  My parents telling me that you are going to be an engineer.  I spent forty something years listening to that horseshit and living the stories all these other people told me.  Life is short.  If you aren’t happy with your work life like I have been ask yourself this question, What feels fun to me but like work to others?  That is a good start towards figuring out what might be a better career path.  I love working out, making up workouts and helping others better themselves.  I’m good at the engineering that I was told to do just because of years of practice but personal training is what I’m passionate about.  I am working part time as a trainer and am in the process of starting my own personal training business.  Does it mean that I quit my engineering job?  No but I am working up a plan to get it to a point where I can do what I truly love for work eventually.  From the personal relationship standpoint, I listened to the negative things told to me by my ex for years.  You are bad with money, you are not intelligent, you are a bad husband, how could anyone love you and so forth.  Years of therapy and meditation and reflection have got me to the point where I have stopped living the stories that others have told me are my life.  Life is short.

My challenge to you today is to think of an area of your life that you might blah in.  Have you been living other peoples stories about you or are you living your own life?  Reflect on that area and you might think of a way that you might take control of you own destiny.

Modify the thang 1 exercises so they were all either standing or on the ground so we didn’t have to keep swtiching between up and down
