Circle of Trust
In my preblast, I promised some fun facts about Casimir Pulaski, so here you go:
Called the father of the American Calvary.
Born in Warsaw, Poland in 1745.
While in exile for being part of a political uprising against Russian involvement in Poland, he joined the American Revolution following a recommendation from Benjamin Franklin.
Saved George Washington’s life at the Battle of Brandywine by turning the tides of the battle that was almost lost, and was subsequently named a Brigadier General in the Continental Army Calvary. Went on to reform the American Calvary as a whole.
Died in battle against the British in Georgia at age 34 in 1779.
One of only 8 people to ever be awarded honorary US citizenship (by President Obama in 2009).
Holiday was established in 1986 to honor Pulaski and due to the large Polish population in the area.
Naked Man Moleskin
Thanks to the 7 other PAX who indulged me in a little Polish-pride today. Thanks Dauber for having my 6. And it was good meeting Old Maid today, who I learned is also a Liberty Grove resident.
