The Thang

Thang 1:

Under shelter: Partner. P1 runs to top of hill, 10 merkins, and back. P2 begins to bust out 143 reps of curls, chest press, and LBC. Each PAX must complete 143 of each, so when P1 gets back, he starts on his 143 and P2 heads up hill and back, then picks up where he left off.

Thang 2:

Group therapy.

Competition: Perform/hold exercise, see who can be last man standing.

Hold low Merkin: Dilly is the champion!

Coupon hold in front of body, arms extended: Bernie is the champion!

Lay on table, on back, legs/but hanging out edge, hold legs out straight: Hangar and Skid mark!

Thang 3:

Burpee Crawl Race (across lot): Perform burpee and bring feet towards hands when you pop up. Where your feet land is where you start next burpee. Don’t move feet so that you move forward each time you extend down for a burpee. I think Vern won.

Tclaps to Silo and Hangar for pushing through. Vern and Dilly were there usual monster selves. Skid mark and Bernie are made of steel. 5 Putt and Flo just get it done with no complaints. Doc, Heifer, Giselle brought their good looks and A games.

Naked Man Moleskin

Today is my brothers 43rd birthday. He lives in Hawaii. I’ve been getting some really pleasant looking beach sunset pics the last week while we were freezing. I’m sure he sent them to try and help cheer me up. Either way, besides work, he pretty much golfs.

However, it’s not just his 43rd birthday, it’s also mine. Yes, we’re twins. No we’re not identical. Yes he’s taller. No I can’t read his mind. And yes, I’m the better looking and smarter one.

So at 43 that puts my brother and I square into that middle age ripe for some sort of crisis. And it’s true: things have not been easy the last few years. But I’m thankful for F3 that’s been a huge blessing. It has been a literal life changer.

F3 also talks about 43 – specifically 43 ft. It’s an illustration on how to stay ahead of what you lead: never ever stopping acceleration, constantly being pushed – always 43ft ahead. It’s in the context of “leaving right” as a virtuous leader.

The words from the last two paragraphs in the Q source are a great way to mark the continued evolution I find myself in now that I’m 43:

The role of a Virtuous leader is this: to Live Third–to place himself behind his Creator and the best interests of the people in his Concentrica and the Groups who depend upon his Virtuous Leadership to continue Accelerating.

And above all to love. The role of the Virtuous Leader is to love. If he does that, the great multitude of his shortcomings will be subsumed in his efforts to stay 43 Feet ahead. But if he fails to love, then nothing else he does will matter at all. At the end, just as it was at the beginning, Virtuous Leadership is about love.
