The Thang
Pax split into Team Ronaldo or Team Messi.
The Problem: people think the other guy is better than you. (age old question: Ronaldo or Messi?)
The Purpose: to help people see you are better than the other guy.
The Task: to overcome 4 obstacles faster than the other team.
The Mission: overcome 4 obstacles faster than the other team in order to help people see you’re the better guy.
Teams set out in opposite directions, performing PT at each stop (as a team, 100 of each – hr merkins, bigboys, grady corns). After PT, PAX opened an envelope with an obstacle that must be completed before the next stop.
- The PAX holding this paper is currently standing on a landmine. The mine detonated, but only destroyed his feet. He will need to make it to the next stop without letting his feet (which are currently a mangled mess) touch the ground. At the next stop, he will be miraculously healed.
- All PAX except the youngest have experienced flash blindness from a nearby explosion. They will regain their sight at the next stop. (Cover your eyes with a hat or scarf if available).
- The enemy has flooded the area with tear gas. Until the next stop, all PAX can only breathe when their face is within 3 feet of the ground.
- The oldest PAX learned a hard lesson last night – never mix Viagra with PBR. He is a casualty on your team and must be transported back to the flags.
Circle of Trust
We all know the Mission of F3, but do we know how it was formed? To be effective, a team/organization must DEVELOP and KNOW it’s mission. It starts by identifying the PROBLEM you want to solve. This leads to articulating your PURPOSE, which necessitates a TASK. Combining the Task and Purpose in to a concise statement give you the MISSION. The following excerpt is from Q-Source

After all this, the question was not answered. Team Messi finished first, but they did so because they followed Quatro’s instruction to “abandon the task and head back to the pavilion at 5:55”. Team Ronaldo made it back to the pavilion at 5:58. We may never answer this question!
