Introduction

What better way to celebrate a birthday than doing something really hard like an Iron Pax challenge.  I arrived at 4:40-ish to start setting up, and got to see Storm Chaser and Ditka head out on an EC run…very impressive work ethic before an Iron PAX!

Warm-O-Rama

In the preblast, I told everyone to watch the video ahead of time and to warm up and stretch on their own prior to 5:15am so we could have as much time as possible for the challenge.  When 5:15 hit, I went through the disclaimer language and we did Motivators from 5 as a group just to get the heart rate up.

I quickly explained the challenge and reminded everyone that this is you vs. you.  There are modifications listed, but challenge yourself.  We are on the honor system, so keep time yourself and have fun!  If you finish early, run laps around the parking lot or pick up the 6.

We started the challenge right around 5:17-5:18am.

The Thang

Iron Pax Week 0 – the FAT COE sandwich

COE: 5 rounds of 20 coupon thrusters and 20 merkins

Brenton: 3 rounds of a 100′ bear crawl out and burpee (3) & broad jump (5) back

COE: 5 more rounds of 20 coupon thrusters and 20 merkins

Circle of Trust

Well, that was hard.  I see a lot of PAX sign up to Q on their birthdays, so I put my name on the Q-sheet a few weeks back before Iron PAX was announced.  When it was scheduled for the Wood to have Iron PAX beatdowns on Wednesdays, I was given the opportunity to switch out, but decided to stick with it, as I really had no idea what it was.  I have to admit, when I first watched the video, my initial reaction was that there was no way I would be able to finish.  I’m a little disappointed to have that kind of attitude right out of the gate, and I’m working hard all the time at improving my mindset.  I’ve heard this discussed at other COTs before, but whether you think you can or can’t do something, you are probably right.  We are a lot of more capable than we think. “Mindset is everything”.

Naked Man Moleskin

I saw some really awesome teamwork out there today for a “you vs. you” challenge.  Special thanks to Picasso for having my 6, and to Foreclosure, 1040 EZ and Soft Hands with helping me with tools/cones/music/lights for the beatdown.
