Circle of Trust

Spiritual growth takes as much work as physical growth. I am purposefully working towards growing myself spiritually. One way in which I have done that is by listening to different pastors and podcasts – one, in particular, is Judah Smith and the insights and perspectives he has on Biblical scripture. A passage that I have been trying to apply to my life is 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 “Rejoice always, pray continually, and show gratitude in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”

It is easy to rejoice in the good times and give thanks when things are going our way. But I want to challenge you to give thanks and show gratitude when times are difficult. How can you put those times into perspective and find the good in all situations?

I have been trying to do this in the face of a current situation in which a friend of ours is facing her final days here on Earth. While it brings great sadness to her family, I try to rejoice in the fact that she is a believer in God and I pray that faith will bring her eternal peace. I am thankful that I had the chance to know her and that she has played a role in the lives of my daughters during pre-school. I will continue to pray for her.
