Introduction

Knew this was going to be a burner and the humidity only added to the experience. 5 PAX set out for a 1.5 mile EC run to loosen up before the beat down. Props to Doc Brown for the audio support and rocking some tunes for us on the hill.

Warm-O-Rama

Spent some additional time in WoR this morning

Tappy Taps x 10

Arm Circles x 10 each direction

Calf Stretches x 10 sec. each leg

Abe Vigotas x 10

Ankle rotation x 5 each direction

Neck rotation x 5 each direction

The Thang

Took our coupons over to the hill for the main event: 11’s

10 blockees at base of hill

Bear crawl with coupon to top of the hill

1 coupon squat

Rifle carry coupon to bottom of the hill

Rinse and repeat until 11’s complete.

Circle of Trust

My oldest 2.0 is about to begin kindergarten this year.  She is very much a perfectionist and self-aware so I have been working on ways to put herself out there and know that if she is not always “perfect” that is okay. Let’s just focus on trying something new and learning from different experiences.  Found Kobe Bryant’s “10 Rules” and while some of these may be a bit intense for a 5 year old, thought there are lessons to be learned for all, including our PAX.

  1. Get better every single day
  2. Prove them wrong
  3. Work on your weaknesses
  4. Execute what you practiced
  5. Learn from Greatness
  6. Learn from wins & losses
  7. Practice mindfulness
  8. Be ambitious
  9. #Believe in your team
  10. Learn storytelling

Naked Man Moleskin

I was first introduced to this beat down by Blinky at a Black Diamond Q. After doing this twice I can assure it sucks as much the second time as it did the first. We have done all of these exercises many times before, but there is something about the hill and inability to escape the coupon which turns this into a mental game more than physical.

Kudos to all the PAX for not giving up. The cursing slowly died down after about 10-15 minutes, but picked up again once everyone caught their breath at Mary.
