Introduction

I arrived at the AO with little time to spare after dealing with my dog that doesn’t like when both my M and I leave in the morning for FIA and F3.

Warm-O-Rama

  • Motivators from 5
  • Good Mornings IC x 10
  • Goofballs IC x 10
  • Abe Vigodas IC x 10
  • Arm Circles IC x 10 (forward and backward)

The Thang

  • We started with a 1/4 mile ruck around the lot – this allowed me to assess the PAX as we had some newcomers to rucking as well as those that are coming off the M*A*S*H unit.
  • Sandbag Work – We completed 13 Manmakers OYO with 40 or 60 pound sandbags. A Manmaker starts with a high plank on the sandbag. A merkin is completed and then the left thumb is brought to the chest while in high plank. Another merkin is completed and then the right thumb is brought to the chest while in high plank. Next, the feet are moved forward into squat position, and a clean and press with the sandbag is completed. That is one rep.
  • Out and Back Ruck – Each PAX optionally grabbed a 60lb sandbag and we ruck out along the path towards the bridge for 10 minutes. We stopped for merkins and squats, and then rucked back to the flags.

Mary

  • Flutter Kicks IC w/ ruck overhead x 15
  • Morties (high plank/Big Boy rotations) to 5 Big Boys until 0600

Circle of Trust

The buffalo has been one of my favorite animals for a long time. I have seen them multiple times in Yellowstone and the Grand Tetons, and I have always been enthralled with them. I recently learned something about buffalo that made me appreciate them even more.

Animals seem to be able to sense when storms are coming. And most animals will run away from the storm as it rolls in. But not buffalo. Buffalo band together and run straight into the oncoming storm. This proves to be beneficial as the closeness of the group offers some protection from the elements, and it allows the animals to be the first ones that are able to enjoy the fresh water the rains bring to the area. Plus they get through the storm faster than they would have otherwise.

This behavior reminds me of what F3 offers to the men that participate in it. We all go through our own storms, and if we reach out and band together when the storms come, we are better off than attempting to either run away from them or weather them on our own.

Next time your own personal storm comes in, reach out to your F3 brothers for support. Be a buffalo.

Naked Man Moleskin

Props to Shawshank for getting after it with a broken toe, and props to Duplo as well for coming out to a Ruck Club after his first workout yesterday.

Special thanks to Bunker for stepping in and covering my 6.
