Introduction

Fresh off GTE30 YHC wanted to share and give away the gifts received this past weekend. We were blessed with good weather and a slightly cool breeze. The plan was a tour of the AO with a visit to the peak of Mount Wood.

Since the plan was to accelerate the work rate and intensity of my beatdowns as I move forward, I decided to run to the AO. A perfect way to warm up,  clear the mind and be prepared to lead right.

The Thang

Line up in two columns facing the hill. Indian Run to the hill. No, not to the near side. That would be easy. Around the hill and to the far side across from the playground parking lot

Thang I

Bridge Over Nest

Both partners start at the base of a hill. Partner 1 starts bear crawling over the long side of the hill while Partner 2 completes 10 squats, 10 merkins, and 10 LBCs. Partner 2 then runs to the top of the hill and then runs back to the bear crawling Partner 1. Partner 2 picks up with the bear crawl while Partner 1 runs to the start to complete the exercises, runs across to the top of the hill, and runs back to Partner 2. After bear crawling to the peak, begin crawl bear on the descent of the opposite long side of the hill. We completed one full revolution over the long traverse of the hill and back.

Line back up in two columns. Indian Run to the basketball court. No, not directly to that BB court, that would be easy. Around the backside of the hill the way we came, then south down the entrance road to the BB Court

Thang II

Partner Wheelbarrows

Partner up,  preferably with a partner of similar height. Start at one side of BB court. One partner holds legs of their partner. The other partner walks on their hands end to end, four rounds, two each partner. 10 squats at each end, then return back to starting side. We completed only two rounds due to time

Line back up in two columns. Indian Run back to main pavilion

Thang III

Coyote Uglys

Starting in a wheel barrow position with partner, PAX will start on the ground and step up to picnic table ‘seat’ with their hands , complete 1 Merkin, step up to top of the ‘table’ , 1 Merkin, step down to the ‘seat’, 1 Merkin, step down to the ground, 1 Merkin. That completes 1 rep. Goal is 5 reps, then switch with Partner.

👉 Note: We did not get to Thang III

Circle of Trust

YHC talked to the PAX about complacency and getting in a rut. Setting goals, signing up for things we would typically tell ourselves we wouldn’t do. Sign up for a GTE, Ragnar, 5k, half marathon, marathon. Push yourself out of your comfort zone. You’ll then be forced to train harder and push yourself further and farther than you’ve ever been. GTE30 was one of the hardest things I’ve done mentally and physically, but I walked away from the accomplishment with much more than finishing a ridiculously tough task. It was a beginning of a new lifestyle of tougher, stronger and better. I forged relationships with brothers from other regions across the states. I learned some deeper and more fulfilling meanings of the Q Source topics we’ve been discussing weekly. How are you going to grow?

Naked Man Moleskin

This was the 216th Q for YHC and I found a way to accelerate the intensity, the difficulty and the overall quality of the beatdown. Let’s face it,  we don’t get up for easy. From the preblast post, EHing Shawshank to get out there injured and MASH, but be with us to pushing the PAX to their limits. TClaps to 1040 EZ, staying with the Indian Run on the first trip to the hill. I remember 1040’s first week when he couldn’t even run 10yds, let alone run with PAX and sprint to the front of an Indian Run. That’s acceleration right there! Mumble chatter was noticeably low due to PAX concentrating and finding their breath. Each of us got stronger, faster and better together. Mission accomplished! For now 😉
