Introduction

It was a cool perfect morning as the PAX arrived.  The mumble chatter was high with the anticipation of GTE30 looming & final talks of gear & equipment.  Bedpan reminded the group to make sure their rucks were dressed up prior to start so there were no penalty burpees & once I did a final inspection we got started.

Today was originally supposed to be my 100th Q in which I wrapped up the 5 C’s of Virtuous leadership with COURAGE, defined in F3 as “setting aside fear to turn hardship into grace.”  However I filled in for Foundation last week so through off my count but as I always say things happen for a reason.  Ironically enough they just started a 3 week series at Community Christian where my family has been going recently & the theme of this series is COURAGE!!  This week they told the story of Joshua & Caleb, a story I never knew but now has become a favorite of mine.  They were 2 of the men that followed Moses out of Egypt with the Israelites & ventured out into the wilderness. They were sent on a scouting trip to explore the supposed “promised land”.  When the 12 men came back 10 of them swore they should not go that there were Giants in the land they could certainly not face or defeat. While Caleb & Joshua pleaded with the group that they should go to the land that they could certainly defeat the Giants b/c the lord had their six. The Israelites were to afraid & did not have the courage which upset the lord who made them wait 40 years in the wilderness.  40 years later after Moses passed the people finally trusted Joshua & Caleb & followed them into the “promised land” where they defeated the Giants.

Men you are Joshua & Caleb…F3 is Joshua & Caleb.  We continue to defy Goo nation.  When Goo nation says that is to hard or that is not what we should be doing we do the opposite b/c we have courage that we are building every morning.  This weekend many of you are facing a Giant I am guessing none of you could have imagined you would ever face & probably would have been like the other 10 men in the bible story but today you are like Joshua & Caleb.  This goes for all of you weather it is GTE, running a 5k, coaching your kids sports team, battling an addiction, volunteering for the 1st time.  You are facing your Giants with courage…you are Joshua & Caleb b/c you see that movement to advantage like they did, a promised land filled with male community leadership b/c we had the courage to lead us there.  I will leave you with this final question to ponder which is the same question the Church left us with this week, “If you knew you could not fail, what would you do?”
