Introduction

It was an unexpected Q as I stepped in for a COVID ridden Foundation.  While I was pretty groggy this morning from my Jester’s winning out yesterday the knowledge of having to Q this morning kept me accountable to hit the bed early.  As the men rolled in their were some extra grunts & groans but we quickly got to work on this 4th of July to honor our freedom from 1776!!

Contentment:  stability of emotion through continual pursuit of joy rather than happiness.  As a leader you must have your emotions under control through highs, lows, & especially in times of turmoil & high stress situations.  A leader knows if he fails to govern his emotions the his followers will lose confidence in his ability to lead & ultimately lead to the failure of the mission & the group.  This stability in a leader is accomplished through finding joy vs happiness.  Yes there is a big difference where happiness is a positive feeling that is governed by external circumstances (hitting a weight loss goal) while joy is a permanent state of hopeful satisfaction unaffected by external circumstances (living a healthy lifestyle).  I personally find myself struggling with this perfect example as of late.  I accomplished great happiness after Q1 of this year getting in the best shape of my life at the lowest weight I have ever been however once that goal was accomplished I merely went back to some of my negative habits b/c I let my external circumstances take control.  What I need to do is find that strong balance of my Queen & Jester to create a Joyful healthy lifestyle where I am living every day that way rather than working towards a goal where I deprive myself of things that make me joyful.  Ultimately the virtuous leader must create Joy in his life so that he is “living right” in order for him to “lead right” any group he encounters b/c that joy has allowed him to create that stability of emotion.  I challenge to reflect on your life & are you stable in your emotions??  What about the times you lose your emotions, what is the trigger & how can you create a more joyful state in your life??  AYE!
