Circle of Trust
For my COT, I wanted to start with this quote,
“Never surrender to the momentum of mediocrity.”
Over the past two years I’ve accelerated in my areas of my life. My areas of my fitness and getting control over my demons of self confidence and anxiety have been life changers. I have been working on my area of my work life lately. It’s been very stale for a long time. I am a duel licensed civil engineer and land surveyor. I am good at my job but have been unmotivated for quite a while. I don’t love my career choice and my parents always told me that you are going to be an engineer so that’s what I did.
I’ve gone through this cycle over my career of switching jobs every two the three years. I’m at the 2.5 year mark at my current company and can see my pattern now. I kept finding myself thinking at this timeframe with the other companies in the past of me finding fault with the companies or with my supervisors but now I have reflected on the subject for some time now and realize it was my thinking has been the habitual problem.
Yes. We might be in a job or situation that we don’t completely love or are not at the spot we eventually see ourselves but you need to give 100% at everything you do. If you go half assed at something, you are practicing mediocrity. As we know with fitness, the more you practice or do something, the better you get at it. So, if I want to get to a better spot or job or see myself somewhere else then I need to make a plan and work towards it but don’t cheat myself by doing my current situation not 100% because I will never achieve greatness if I don’t practice it.
My challenge to you today is reflect on an area of your life that you might not be satisfied with and think up a plan of how you will achieve it. Write it down and put it up somewhere where you will have to see it every day as the reminder to yourself. I am currently getting this up as a dryerase board in my walk in closet. You can not lie to yourself or avoid making it happen if you put it out there where you see it every day and reinforce your goal in your mind constantly.
