Introduction

I was site Q for Jellystone’s over-the-hill black diamond a few weeks back, and his CoT discussed some key aspects of the Centenarian Olympics.  I thought it would be a fun idea to incorporate that into a beatdown.  Lots of grip strength, core, and balance types of exercises…right up my alley.

Warm-O-Rama

Jog in place while I went over the introduction, disclaimer, core principles, credo and mission statement.  After our site Q, Meta, did the count and safety statements, we moved into moving WoR.

At the four corners of the parking lot (mosey between), we did the following: good mornings, WMH with arm extensions, TIE fighters, world’s greatest stretch.

The Thang

Centenarian Olympics comprises targets for merkins, big boys, farmer carry, dead hangs, balance holds, planks, squats, swimming and running.

Thang 1: Mini tortoise and the hare.  Partner up. One PAX farmer carry two coupons.  The other PAX does 3 burpees and then runs to catch up with their partner and they switch.  Do two loops of the parking lot, and then hold coupon in hand (alternating every 10 seconds or so) while waiting on the 6 to finish.

Thang 2: Dead hangs in playground.  2 PAX at a time will dead hang for as long as it takes for the rest of the group to perform two bodyweight exercises ICx12 (about 1 minute).  Alternate tempo merkins / swimmers, and tempo squats / lunges for the exercises.

Thang 3: Balance holds by the baseball fields pavilion.  Balance different positions for 30 seconds each side, and then do a cardio movement.  One leg stance + SSH, Quad hold + goof balls, Squatros + high knees, Warrior pose + run back to flags.

Thang 4: Mary – alternate tempo big boys (ICx12) and 1-minute planks (30 second high, 30 second low).

Naked Man Moleskin

I got some great feedback for AAR.  The lunges during the dead hang thang was a bit off.  Should have slowed it down or just did less reps.
