Introduction
so in all seriousness the last few times I’ve gone out for a rock club. I’ve gone to the wood cause it’s flat and Schlitz has kicked our ass more than once going up and down those stairs so we avoided the stairs today but we did hit a few of the hills.
I’ve been inspired by a few of the more creative rock clubs of recent in particular Demos gauntlet from this past week I like the idea of doing straight rucks, but adding twists
Warm-O-Rama
This is actually the first time that I’ve been at this Ayo since reindeer games and it’s nice that they have the lights in the heaters although they weren’t on, but that must be nice on Friday mornings.
this was the back end of a double tap for a lot of us so the warm-up wasn’t too crazy. Got our bodies moving took attendance and headed out.
The Thang
I had asked everybody to bring something heavy with them to carry in addition to their rucksack so we had a couple of sandbags a kettle bell two screw like things that look like kettle bells and I had my medicine ball and we had it off everybody carrying their own thing.
we got to the first bridge did a little wall sit and passed our heavy shit around. Then we grabbed our equipment and as we were walking to the next stop, I asked the packs to think about an exercise that they could do with the piece of equipment they have when we stopped each pack did 10 reps with their own before, passing their equipment twice to the right, doing 10 reps, each of the previous persons exercise. we repeated this at least one more time.
we also made a stop at the pavilion later equipment on the table and did a few table exercises such as Erkins. And this facilitated another switching of equipment.
we headed up towards the baseball field with the intention of scaling the mountain, and we each took turns carrying two things, including the sandbags and something else.
unfortunately, I made the choice to wear my higher quality vest/lamp and the lamp got knocked off partway through the end of the rock. I noticed this as we were proceeding to the mountain unfortunately, the packs were gracious enough for us to turn back and we were able to recover my lamp that I love so dearly.
when we got back to base we did a few exercise exercises using the platforms in the back of the stage doing some leg lifts, big boys and Jane Fonda.
Circle of Trust
I want to expand more on what I said here because the back glass didn’t really touch it exactly. so I spent a lot of time living out west I lived in Arizona and Nevada and I knew a lot of people from California either that moved to where I was permanently or we’re there for college and I came to know the area I visited a few times and did some things in Los Angeles But as these wildfires are going on and it is truly horrific, I really didn’t feel anything and I didn’t know if that was vindictive since California’s you know very politically out there right now or if it was something else.
so I think the main point that I wanted to make is that I felt desensitized you know when you’re growing up before a time of social media, you might’ve heard about these wildfires on the news, but it would’ve seem so distant and you wouldn’t have been bombarded with it in the same way that you are now now if you had had something going on close to home, you probably would’ve felt something. You probably would’ve had some sort of emotional reaction to it. You know such as 911 for New Yorkers about granted that was a much bigger deal nationwide but as a New Yorker that was something that hit me very hard and so the moral of the story here is that I kind of took that as a bit of an alarm that I may be consuming too much negativity or too much drama, and that is desensitizing me and if I don’t feel anything there, I have to be careful that it doesn’t prevent me for feeling something when I need to.
Naked Man Moleskin
Thanks again to the boys for circling back with me to grab my lamp. I’ll definitely stick with the headlamp version when I do a rock as the back piece for the vest was interfering with my rock anyway, and I was worried that I was gonna break it.
