Introduction
PreBlast – The Ridge – Run Club – December 4th at 0515-0600
Run Clubs have some additional core principals for YHC….
6. We start at 0515, if you are late then find us but no points.
7. The goal is 4 miles + in 45 minutes
8. You WILL earn it. Lotsa Mumblechatter means run faster
9. We stay together. Positive attitude, effort and encouragement.
10. Snow counts as double miles, Rain 1.6 multiplier, wind over 20 mph 1.3 multiplier. It’s math and science.
ECR Opportunity at 0440am – if you don’t plan on getting 4+ during Run Club then this is a requirement. Plus you need to warm up.
CoT – Find out about thoughts on Winter Arc and what A.C.E and P.R.I.D.E means.
Warm-O-Rama
Blue Gill said 0515!! And I responded with a Let’s Go! Follow Me! and we ran over to the pool lot for a runners stretch as requested by the PAX. Mumble Chatter ensued and after 3-4 minutes of stretching we counted off 1-10 and lined up in a slingshot line.
The Thang
PAX # call out Slingshot run from the pool lot to Daisy Park (2 miles) via Heggs and 135th
When we arrived at Daisy Park we ran the long inclined hill until 0540.
Rejoined the path and had PAX line up 2×2 for the run back to the flags via Prairie Pond/ Skyline Rds.
We arrived back early and one or two PAX were just short of 4 miles so we went back to pick up the 6 to ensure everyone got 4.
Circle of Trust
I probably ended up going to the wrong football school but know for a fact that I did not choose the wrong leader as my head coach. He didn’t utilize any empty promise tactics when recruiting, told me where I needed to get better and held me accountable daily. He had two speeches that to this day 20 years later still live rent free in my head and have structured the way I live my life.
At the first practice in summer he would hold up an ACE playing card and explain that ACE actually stood for Attitude, Character and Enthusiasm. He explained that this is what he expected from us as football players, teamates, roomates and people in the community. A positive attitude, high impactful character and to be passionate about what we did on a daily basis. Sound familiar?? HIM?
To accomplish the about we had to take PRIDE in each day….ahem, win the day. Personal Responsbility In Daily Effort. It’s up to you to set the tone for the day, have the right attitude, effort and passion. It’s not up to others to do it for you and you have to opt into this mindset and have PRIDE daily.
Little did I know that 20 years later I’d be part of something with F3 that had this same philosophical stance and I believe this is why F3 is a lightning rod for me along with many other men. If you aren’t taking PRIDE every single day then you will never be given the ACE playing card at the end of your playing (life) career because being an ACE starts with Day 1 in PRIDE.
Win the day!
Positive intentions for the 8 that stayed at CoT and prayers.
Naked Man Moleskin
AAR, I was sloppy in my instructions on the call out slingshot run and let the group space out when Skidmark decided to push the pace. Better command is needed from me. Routes and different scenery were appreciated.
Lots of mumblechatter the day before and then a ton of pulled HC’s, missed opportunties for ECR and just committment was frustrating to see. Boiler Up getting back out and more than keeping pace was excellent and uplifing to see.
Having Blue Gill as my SQ reminded me of the old days of Nantan/Weasle Shaker. When he has your 6 you feel confident in your leadership ability. Thank you brother!
