Circle of Trust

I had a very positive experience over the weekend and I wanted to share that with the group.

My family and I moved to IL (from MN) in 2014 due to a job transfer.  I moved to help a chemical manufacturing site in Channahon improve performance.  At the time, it was unprofitable and experiencing a lot of operating issues. There were a handful of other employees that were transferred to the same site at the same time to help. It was a very tough few years, with long hours, many calls and unexpected trips to the plant at night and over the weekend. The site’s performance improved and it was sold in 2018. We went our separate ways shortly thereafter.

Until Saturday. The Site Manager from back then is now in a band and played at they played Big Sammy’s right here in Plainfield. I met up with 5 of my former co-workers to watch the show, and what I found amazing was that it felt like no time had passed with this group – we were as close as we ever were and I still felt like I knew them just as well as when we were spending hours upon hours together.

I believe this is because we did hard things together.  We talk about this a lot in F3 – why we do hard things.  There are many reasons, all of them good, but the one that I was reminded about this weekend is that accomplishing really hard things with other people creates deep and lasting relationships.

So then next time you’re faced with a really hard challenge, look at those around you who are going through it with you. And think about the future when your relationship with those people will be stronger than it ever was before.
